Worked with NOAA NWFSC as a bioacoustician aboard the Bell
M. Shimada, researching winter habitat of Southern Resident Killer
Whales (SRKWs) and Offshore Killer Whales (OKWs). Primary
responsibilities included passive acoustic localization of killer
whale vocalizations and clicks using Ishmael and Pamguard, and
deployment and retrieval of towed hydrophone array. Additional
duties included visual surveying using 25 x 150 “big eye”
binoculars, oceanographic sampling and preparation of audio-
visuals for use by NWFSC managers and Bio-waves senior staff.
