Girl, 4, dies in hospital after horse-drawn wagon hits kids at

Thunder Bay Park.
On Tuesday June 1, 2010 in Winnipeg, a little girl named Willow, passed
away, a day after she and five classmates were injured by a horse-drawn
wagon on a school outing. Willow Scott Hannam was on a field trip with her
kindergarten class and William Historical Park. After being intrigued by the
horses, the children stopped and went to pet a couple of horses tied to a
wagon.
The horses became startled and started running, and sadly the wheel
attached to the wagon, ran over Willows small, fragile body. Two four year
old boys were treated for non-life threatening injuries. The family of Willow is
now looking for answers. Fr
“How were these children on a school outing- how were they supervised?
What happened?” are some of the frequent questions asked by many of the
Parents and concerned friends about this tragic event. As of late the coroner,
park officials, the Labour Ministry, and the Lakehead school board are all
investigating this incident.

Nantes Tests out Digital Radio

Six months behind the rest of the more “tech savvy” world, Nantes has
become the first French town to launch an experiment into digital radio. A
dozen stations are recorded to be broadcasting digitally from now until
August as a “preview” to what public radio will be. They hope it will be a
national new technology.
Paris, Marseille, and Nice were supposed to experiment with digital radio
last autumn but “punked out” per say, because of some disagreements. Also
someone stated of the record that one specific broadcasting network could
not handle the change.
Digital radio allows more stations to broadcast in any given area and
allows broadcasters to provide listeners with extra information on a visual
display such as song details, traffic and weather. Some groups are wary of
the move but others are sure they will adjust fine.
To listen you must buy a digital radio. So please don’t expect that you will
be able to listen to it unless you bought one. That means do not look down at
your radio and expect the song title to come on an analog screen.

A Tale of Three Canadians

One Tuesday afternoon before The Cannes Film Festival, Atom Egoyan,
Xavier Dolan, and Noah Pink sit down and talk about film and Canada’s place
in the world. Egoyan served as role models to aspiring directors Dolan and
Pink.
Sitting down at the Canada Pavilion to talk about what Cannes means to
Canada, the three directors get comfortable with each other. They were
there to help produce the short documentary film, “Speaking Part: Atom
Egoyan in conversation with the next wave of Canadian filmmakers.” In
Canada, a new and great filmmaker is in comparison of a new band or Music
star in America. Yes, that’s a big deal!
As the interview starts, Egoyan talks about how he once was reading
about the Cannes Festival and he thought himself, “that’s what I would love
to do.” All three of the directors express their love for Cannes. They all say
that it is an amazing experience to be surrounded by people who love and do
the same things that they enjoy to do.
The documentary was due to show at the festival that previous Friday.

Quebec to amend Controversial language law

In Quebec government is now trying to allow certain francophone and
immigrant students to attend English-language public schools. According to
the Parti Quebecois, the liberal government may regret having opened up a
debate that could focus attention on the survival of the French language in
Quebec and upset the province’s social and linguistic peace.
A bill was on the table to strike down provisions in the language law that
prevented francophone and immigrant students-mainly from wealthy
families- who attended preivat English schools from being able to go to
English, public schools. The new bill proposes that such students may be
able to go to English schools after being tested by the Ministry of Education.
Under the bill, private schools cannot deliberately admit students with for
purposes of circumventing the language law’s provisions. Some Canadian
families found loopholes to this law before now. They sent their kids to
Enlish private school for a year, making them eligible to go to public school.
“In order for our language to shine, we don’t need to suspend the rights
of others,” Premier Charest argued in the National Assembly.
After reading this article, I thought it was unfair for Quebec to try to keep
all English speaking children segregated from French speaking ones in public
school. Seeing as how they’re changing now is amazing.

Tuneful Thunder from a Band called Zeus

In this article it tells of a band named Zeus. In Toronto, Zeus, a emo-indie
pop quartet has acquired quite a fan base. People often describe Zeus as,
excellent musicians and that the band was great live. but that you couldn’t
remember the words to the song, but have catchy tunes. If you are a music
lover, like me, you know that a catchy tune is only half of it. If you truly love
or like song you would be able to quote unquote a song, by heart.
But also that could be a good thing because the whole indie-pop world
thrives on songs that are tuneful, yet not entirely memorable. Zeus draws
upon classic influences to craft timeless songs, complete with fuzzed guitars
and shimmering three-part harmonies; classic rock ‘n’ roll with a touch of
twang.
Fans of Zeus love them because they can do one, on fire live
performance. In a world where most music is made to be distributed on the
radio only and all live shows suck, so to speak, a band has come out of the
shadows and erupted a fan base of over 600 people with their live shows,
and amazing, erratic tunes.

Paris’ Back Street Disquaires

In Paris, music is not a hobby. It’s a lifestyle. There is now more reasons
to hangout at Cd stores then buying a Cd. Music lovers rule supreme at
specialist boutiques, second hand Cd stores, and just clubs in general. So
please read this article, and the next time you’re in Paris stop into these
places. Maybe you can meet new people, new neighborhood, and definitely
new music…
Some of the most popular places to Visit are Paris Jazz Corner, Urban
Music, O’CD, Papageno, Monster Melodies, Sonic Machine, and DMC DJ Shop.
In this places music lovers can go chill, relax, listen to the music style of that
place, and just all around enjoy themselves. At Paris Jazz Corner, which is for
jazz purists, you can listen to a whole album before paying for it. At Urban
Music you can buy classic vinyl of Records before your time and now. O’CD is
popular with those people who enjoy owning the whole Discography of a
band. Cd’s start 3 Euros. Which is cheap compared to our American
standards. Papageno is the place for opera lovers. They have opera vinyl
from postwar to now. Monster Melodies has often been described in
comparison to walking in Aladdin’s cave. Walking into that store is like
walking into the awes of music. Memorabilia from the Smiths and The Rolling
Stones litter the cramped entrance while killing joke blare from the lower
level sound system.
After reading this article I believe I fell in love with Paris. It’s hidden
musical wonderland lying underneath streets of Paris, lie waiting to be
uncovered. I aspire to one day be able too.
