What’s Happening Around Town
The weekend has finally arrived! It seems like
this week has been especially hectic and full of
unexpected challenges for many people, but I am
thankful we can rest in the hands of our Faithful
Father! I am thankful for the opportunity to be
able to share and bear in some small way some of
your burdens, and I am so thankful for all your en-
couragement!
As we recap this week, I want to make note of
the progress the students are making in their abili-
ty to hear, speak, read, and write blends and even
words! I would like to encourage you to begin to
“quiz” your child on blends they hear at the begin-
ning of words (i.e. ma in map). I will be sending
home blend cards and ideas of ways you may use
the blend cards to practice and extend learning
the first week of November! For now, please con-
tinue to review the short vowel sounds as well as
the letters and sounds we have learned so far this
year! The students really enjoy reading and writing
blends and forming words by adding final conso-
nants! YEAH!
In math, we continue to review and learn how
to form numbers in the teen family. We are work-
ing hard at remembering to write the one in the
tens column on the left and then the number of
ones on the right. The smaller teen numbers are
especially difficult to identify and form, so any op-
portunity at home to review the numbers in the
teen family would be very helpful! Consider going
on a number safari in your home! It is lots of fun!
There is so much to learn about the world
around us! I trust and pray we will fill our minds
with good things for God’s glory this week!

Answers to Questions on the Ranch
A: The end of the grading period ends today,
and report cards will be sent home next Friday,
October 22nd, an early dismissal Friday. Con-
ferences will be held October 28th and 29th. A
sign up sheet is available outside the classroom,
so please sign up if you have not yet done so
already. Please keep your eyes peeled for a con-
ference questionnaire to come home next
week. It will give you the opportunity to ask
questions and will help me better organize our
conference time! I will also be able to share
your child’s DIBELS scores with you at confer-
ences as well! I look forward to sharing with
you about your child’s growth this year!
A: There have been a couple of questions
about chapel dress codes for Wednesdays for
primary chapel, so I wanted to make sure to
share the expectations with you. Boys must
wear a shirt with a collar, a turtleneck, mock
turtleneck, or nice sweater. All shirts with
tails must be tucked in. Denim slacks or jeans
are not allowed. Boys are to wear nice pants
and elementary boys may wear dress shorts only
during hot weather in August, September, and
May. Girls are to wear a dress, skirt or dress
slacks with a nice top or sweater. Belts are
required with looped pants on chapel days for
both girls and boys. The purpose of chapel
dress is to give us a physical reminder of the
unique and special opportunity we have to qui-
et our hearts before God and spend extra time
in study and praise of Him!
 Spotlighting Students and Volunteers
Our class basket is all ready to be auc-
tioned one week from this Saturday, Oc-
tober 23, and I want to express my
gratitude for all who contributed to our
basket! It turned out very well, and I
think it is safe to say it “screams” fall!
Each time I walk past the basket, fond
memories of time with family and friends
flood my mind! I trust the basket will be a
blessing to the individual or family with
the highest bid. So, thank you for your
generosity in giving! It is greatly appreciat-
ed! May God bless you!
I also want to thank Officer Grand-
george for coming to share with our kin-
dergarten class! He taught us so much
about how he serves the community and
about safety! Thanks for coming to share!

A Bible Course Map for the Upcoming Week
- (God Calls Abram - Gen. 11:27-32;
12:1-20) God chose Abram, a man who wor-
shiped and obeyed Him, to make a promise
to bless the whole world with the gift of the
Savior. He called Abram and his wife Sarai
to leave the city in which they lived among
people worshipping other gods, and he led
them to the promise land. Despite his fears,
Abram obeyed God completely.
- (Lot Chooses the Best Land - Gen.
13:5-11) God blessed Abram with great
wealth, and Abram’s nephew, Lot, also had
many possessions. They had so many animals,
their servants began to argue over pasture
land, so Abram decided to allow Lot to
choose the land he would like to own. Lot
selfishly chose the best land where he
thought he would have the nicest place to
live, but he ignored the fact it was right
next to Sodom and Gormorrah. His decision
had big consequences in the future!

15:5-6; 16:1-4) After Abram and Lot parted
company, God promised Abram a son and
descendants that outnumber the stars in
heaven. God changed his name from Abram
(High Father) to Abraham (Father of Many
Nations). God has awesome plans for our
lives; we must trust and obey completely!
