5. Detail of Project : SEGMENT-I

The project alignment with length of approx. 5.30 km starts from


Gurumandir traverses along Teen hatti via Jehangir road, Dak
Khana, Liaquatabad No. 10, Karimabad via S. M. Toufeeq Road
upto Ayesha Manzil.

SEGMENT-II

The project alignment with length of approx. 5.960 km starts from

Square (M-9).

Main project objectives:


To provide reliable, safe, affordable, high quality and fast BRT
Bus Service and To vastly improve the quality of public transport
system in Karachi

Results
Considering Blue Line as LRT corridor in JICA study of 2012, the
following results were given based on demand forecast of Blue
Line:
 Maximum daily ridership per direction 357,000
 Maximum peak hour ridership per direction 27,000
 Daily boarding per day per direction 661,000
 Passengers kms per day 10,900,000

Technical feasibility study was presented in P&DD on 26-05-2017


wherein it was suggested to T&MTD that a dedicated elevated
corridor to be provided at Sohrab Goth intersection to avoid mix
traffic conditions.

The scheme was cleared in Technical Committee Meeting on 04-


08-2017. Modified PC-I not submitted till date by the
Administrative Department. Reminder issued by P&DD on 29-11-
2017.
6. Schedule of Project: To be completed in 24 months period

7. Current Status: The Modified PC-I of the schemes in compliance with the
decisions of Technical Committee Meeting dated 04-08-2017 is
awaited for the consideration of PDWP forum.
