Purpose

The purpose of this unit is to develop learner’s skills, in Literacy, Planning and Organisation,
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving, Digital Literacy, Innovation and Creativity and Personal
Effectiveness and then apply them in an appropriate manner.

Current Affairs & Worldwide News Activity Brief

The Current Affairs & Worldwide News Challenge provides you with an opportunity to show
how you can use digital technology when conducting research, as well as Literacy skills
when producing written evidence it will also demonstrate your critical thinking and problem
solving skills by conducting questionnaires to gain knowledge and findings and your
personal effectiveness will be assessed on completion of the challenge.

As an individual identify a current issue that you feel is important to society and interests
you. You will need to be able to inform and educate your class peers on the importance of
this issue and your personal standpoint on the topic.

Your presentation should demonstrate how creative and innovative you can be in
communicating the issue and message to your peers.

Conduct some further research upon the subject area chosen in task 3.

Use internet, newspapers, magazines or journals to find three articles about the subject
and analyse the information. You must use 5 sources of information.

Important: You need to include copies of the articles that you have looked at along with
summaries and notes made.
