Describe how you would incorporate an Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity in your
classroom. For this project, students will be instructed to choose one iReport to study on CNN iReport. The
topic they choose must be approved by myself, the instructor. They may gather further information on the
approved topic on the internet from credible sources. With their research they must combine their
information in a do 2-page paper. Also, with their research they will be instructed to make a short
presentation about the topic they chose. A rubric will be provided and used to assess the student’s work.

What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a classroom?
Computer or iPad.

Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of them may not be
addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high LoTi Level).
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often beyond their
school: Students will be presenting their Power Points to their peers in the classroom. They may also
choose an iReport made by another student from around the world on CNN iReport.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (creating original data and or producing original
products as a result of engaging in a project): Students will create their own unique PowerPoint
showcasing the information they learned during their research.
c. Higher-order thinking:

d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their product: For extra
credit, I will allow students to create their own iReport video and publish it on CNN iReport website.

Online Projects, Collaboration Sites and Publishing Opportunities
Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Large Keys will be available for students that need visual assistance.
For students that need help there will be a transcript for them to read.

Lesson idea implementation and Internet Safety Policies: Have students sign up using a fake name. Connect
with the program through our school and keep information about each student private.

Reflective Practice: Students are constructing their own presentation and written report on knowledge
they gained through an online publishing opportunity. They may also publish their work on the publishing
site. Their work can be used to instruct others in their school and students all over the world.
