Support for YSNC OEM‘s

Motion Control
Systems ƒ On March 1st. 2002, Siemens Erlangen set up a Task Force
1 Joint Venture to provide assistance in the area of service support for
2 CNC Hardware Japanese machine tool builder and their dealer network
3 CNC Software with following main tasks:
4 Yaskawa Drive
1. Training of Siemens Regional Service in PRC countries
5 Setup
2. Initial support for regional after-sales activities, especially in
6 Diagnosis regard of building up local know-how on YS840DI, Yaskawa
7 Backup / Restore drives and OEM specific solutions/applications.
8 Network 3. Pre-sales and marketing issues such as information about the
functionality of the complete system, application topics,
operating and programming of the basic system (OEM specific
solutions will be trained by OEM team)
4. Initial service training of OEM and dealer service staff
5. Regular meeting with OEM regional service manager to follow
up open issues of OEM specific tasks

The Task Force is coordinating all service support activities between

Japanese OEMs, their dealers and the Siemens regional service
organizations.

8 Network Yaskawa has developed a new electrical equipment system for
machine tool systems to meet the recent requirements from the YASKAWA
machine tool industry. The targets of the developments are high-
speed and precise machining, open architecture, and meeting
global standards. To create the new system, all devices of the
system were newly developed; the devices are a PC based NC
controller, a servomotor series for high performance feeding,
and a highly-efficient and-performing spindle drive series.
The new NC system Yaskawa Siemens 840DI especially
provides a lot of advanced features because it is a fully PC-
based NC controller.

To get high tracking performance of NC machine tools, their controller should equip the control system with
combined feed forward (FF) control and feedback control in good balance. The purpose of this paper is to
present the outlines of the control system: predictive control, predictive-FF control, dual predictive control,
preview-learning control and torque ripple compensation method, which have been developed as the algorithm of
the control system. In addition, the experimental results for cutting with the control systems are presented
showing remarkable improvement of controllability by the circular contouring control with the predictive control,
the synchronous control for high-speed tapping with the dual predictive control, and the tracking control with the
preview-learning control.

1. Select mode ‘ZERO RETURN’ and set Keep Relay K15 Bit7 = 0
2. Place the concerned axis to the known mechanical home position ( If problems with the axis
range appear, change the limit positions MD36100/MD36110 to max )
3. Set MD 34210 ENC_REFP_STATE to 1 ( Softkeys ⇒ Start-up/ Machine data/ Axis MD )
4. Choose the axis on operator panel and push reset
5. Move the axis by + or - button to this direction in which you usually move to home position.
Don’t be worry the axis will not move, you only see in axis screen how the axis will reset
referring to MD 34100 REFP_SET_POS, MD 34210 ENC_REFP_STATE changed to 2

8 Network supply system, e.g. SITOP UPS module, SITOP power battery module, wiring.
In addition check the operation of ladder program. In all applications the OEM
is using the PLC interface signal DB10.DBX57.3 (PC Shutdown) to shutdown
the system correctly. In case of PLC Stop condition the ladder is not able to
support the PLC interface signal DB10.DBX57.3. This situation creates alarm
4065 too.

In case of operating system Windows NT confirm alarm 4065 due to execution of

NCK-Reset or switch off/on the CNC system

In case of operating system Windows XP please see next pages.
