BBMF 3113 CASE STUDIES IN FINANCE AND INVESTMENT

This assignment requires the students to study the case and answer the following questions:

1. Analyse the current situation faced by Palamon Capital Partners. Discuss the reason(s) for
Palamon interests in TeamSystem., and does it fit with Palamon’s investment strategy.
(15 marks)

2. How much is 51% of TeamSystem’s common equity worth? Use a discounted cash flow
method to evaluate the investment. (25 marks)

3. Discuss other factors (besides valuation) affect the attractiveness of this investment.
(15 marks)

You are required to present your case analysis both orally (presentation) and in writing (report
format).

Note:
a) This is a group assignment of 5-6 members.
b) To ensure that there is total participation from everyone, group appraisal form is to be
fill up by every member.
c) Be mindful of the danger of plagiarism. Citations and referencing are required if you
have taken information or materials from any resources. Otherwise, you will be
penalized through marks reduction.
d) Final written report is required to upload to Turnitin with no more than 15% plagiarism
score.
e) The final report must comprise of introduction, conclusion and must be binded.
Typewritten in MS Word – Times New Roman, front size 12 with 1.5 spacing.
f) Coursework Declaration Form, Assessment Criteria Form and a Turnitin Report must
be attached upon submission.
g) Deadline of the submission and presentation of this assignment is in Week 8, tutorial
class.
h) Each group is given 15-20 minutes to present on your case findings and it is compulsory
for each member to present. Presentation stands at 20 marks.
Group Member Appraisal Form

The basis of this evaluation is your group member’s commitment to completing the assignment and to
their regard for other members of the group. It should be based on the contribution given by each
member and his or her involvement in this assignment.

Group members should be appraised using the following basis:

100% • Group member attended all group meetings or if unable to attend, contacted
the group in advance and came to an alternative arrangement that the
majority of group members were happy with,
• Group member contributed to group discussion.
• Group member always offered to help or volunteered for tasks.
• Group member had assigned tasks completed on time.
50% • Group member missed group meetings without making alternative
arrangements with other group members.
• Group members assigned tasks were only partly completed or poorly
completed
• Group member did not contribute to the group effort or volunteer for task.
0% • Group member attended few meetings and made no contribution to the
assignment.
