Project Narrative

Concept:
Concept 6- PO3: Describe significance of the following groups in the Civil War.
A) Political Leaders (i.e. Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis)
B) Military Leaders (i.e. Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S Grant)
C) Role of African- Americans
D) Role of Women
Learning Goal: Describe the roles of Political Leaders, Military Leaders, African-Americans, and
Women.
Lesson Target: Identify Political Leaders, Military Leaders, and describe what it was like for
African- American in the North and South, and what it was like for women.
Content Standards- Research Skills for History

The importance of this lesson is for students to understand how some of the issues that were
around during the Civil War is still relevant today. To learn about slavery, so we never do
something that again. Relating to today’s world- there is still racial prejudice (i.e. immigration
sweeps, police brutality to individuals that are minorities). Racial prejudice is still an issue today
educate these young minds to hopefully put an end to racism.
