NEW FEATURES IN VERSION 2.5:
This release builds on top of v2.1 so all functionality of V2.1 is included.

V2.5 supports ALL Xbox’s v1.0 to v1.5 and possibly beyond!

1. Includes the Latest Homebrew Apps that will be copied to your HD:

• EvoX v+3921 (configured with DHCP or 192.168.1.200 & >137GB HD Support while allowing access
to the apps below)

• Xbox Media Player (XBMP) v2.4 Beta CVS 09/24/03 (seems very stable)

• BiosCheck v3.1 (utility to identify what mod chip/BIOS you have).

• boXplorer v0.96 patched for G: support (file management on Xbox HDD).

• DvDX v2.0 (play DVD movies without the remote kit and region free).

• HDDLoader v1.2a (copy games from DVD to HDD and manage/play).

• XCommander R2 patched for G: support (Norton Commander like file manager).

• Dvd2Xbox v0.4.9 (copy Games/DVD movies from Xbox DVD to Xbox HDD ).

• Avalaunch 0.48 (downloads Qwix 1.0 and is great for game management from pc)

• XbFtp v0.61 (Xbox FTP Client).

• XBWatch v0.03 (use as backup to M$ Dash to synchronize time/date).

• NTSC/PAL Switcher (use carefully as it will change your video mode)

• DVD Region Free Patch for M$ Dash 1.03 (use carefully it will patch the M$Dash).

NOTE: Most of them will be available under “System Management” and “Launch Apps from HD” in EvoX

2. Ability to flash the X2, Chameleon, Akira or any other 1MB MOD CHIP
implementing the Cromwell BIOS Boot Mechanism. Simply insert the
SlaYer’s v2.5 Installer disk in the Xbox DVD drive when asked by the
Cromwell Bios and your MOD will be flashed with a SlaYer customized X2
4977 *FC* bios capable of booting “evoxdash.xbe” from F: or C: and even
supporting G: drive for HD’s larger then 137GB

The customized x2 4977 FC +137G bios was placed in the root of the installer as 2 files called
“bios.bin” and also “xecuter.bin” for maximum compatibility with the different Cromwell
BIOS’s.

NOTE: Before anyone asks, the USB mod chips like X-B.I.T cannot be flashed with this method as they
arrive without any bios, even Cromwell. Those chips use a USB cable and software running on your PC.

3. Single all-compatible 1.x Dashboard version from Xbox Live (4920).

This is the second M$ Dash that XBOX Live installed on all machines and it seems to be the
most compatible Dash. This will eliminate Dashboard related errors. This version is commonly
referred to as "1012a700"

I kept this "1012a700" dash because it is the last version that supports all the exploits and
customizations. M$ has patched all the security holes in their latest Dash being automatically
installed on people’s machines without their request when using a Live Enabled Game.

In an effort to combat that sneaky M$ move I added an option to restore the "1012a700" dash
in case M$ updates your Xbox without your consent. Cool, huh?

All BIOS's that boot from "evoxdash.xbe" first are now supported! These are X2 4972 and
newer and EvoX 3.6 and newer! You must update your Mod Chip BIOS before using an XBOX
built using this installer or your Xbox will not work properly! Newer MultiVer "EvoX M7" &
"X2 4977" are recommended and all are available with this installer in both 256K and 1MB!

4. Runs on and installs the Latest EvoX Dashboard (V+3921) with HD

temperature meter, Game Trainers and G: drive (>137GB) support

Includes same skins as v2.1, defaults to the Slayers25 skin for install and once installed provides
2 Slayer customized skins “Gears” and “Gears_G” and defaults to “Gears”

5. Latest XboxMediaPlayer (XBMP) (v2.4 CVS 9/24/03) with ShoutCast

Streaming support.

Media Folders are also created on e: or f: as per user requests. See the read me file in the XBMP
folder on your Xbox for latest features and fixes.

Added ShoutCast Stream links on the HD under the \Music Folder. Enjoy!

Please note that the XBMP is a very complex program. Support for it is well outside the scope

6. Allows the flashing of ALL XBOX v1.0-v1.5 TSOP and Mod chips straight
from menu (7) and Includes the latest BIOS’s: EvoX and Xecuter2 (M7 and
4978.03) in 256K & 1MB flavours. Customized X2 4977 *FC* boots EvoX from
F: & C: and the X2 4977 *FC* +137GB even adds G: drive support. All *F* and
*FC* mod BIOS’s included have the Fan set to 40% to help cool the larger HD’s

7. Ability to Format either the C: E: F: or G: partitions independently and

without affecting the others.

8. Ability to restore the “exploitable” M$ dash if Xbox Live has updated

your Xbox without your consent.

9. Great PDF manuals converted & tested with the help of SS113. Also

6. Ability to install/upgrade just the XBMP & the apps or just the EvoX

1. NTSC/PAL Video Mode switching (patches the EEPROM on the fly).

2. Ability to just add the EvoX Dash and all the apps without losing saved
games.

No games will be lost either but it will only work on a virgin Xbox where no files have been
modified, on both Retail & Large HD. It renames the M$ dash!

3. New ConfigMagic Final from Team-Assembly replaces EEPromer -

4. Ability to identify your Xbox’s bios/mod chip. Also copied to your HDD.

5. Ability to wipe a HDD clean and just format it without installing any files.

6. Ability to format just the F: partition to gain extra space on larger retail
or upgraded HDD.

Only the F: partition is affected!

7. This release will be one ISO with DHCP support and fallback on
192.168.1.200.

If your system does not automatically assign IP addresses and your IP scheme is different from
192.168.1.X or if 192.168.1.200 is already used on your LAN, then you will have to extract the
files from the ISO, edit ‘evox.ini’ and use an IP that works for you. There are several tutorials on
http://www.xbox-scene.com to help.

8. Lots and lots of n00bie warnings!

No more excuses if anyone messes up their Xbox because they did not back it all up to their PC
via FTP first!

9. Supports XBOX V1.0 and V1.1

A) Utilizes the EvoX Dashboard Build 1.8.3752 set for DHCP /

192.168.1.200.

This provides both a means for FTP access to your Xbox for backup and recovery purposes, as
well as an intuitive menu for performing different operations on the Hard Drive (HDD) in your
Xbox.

Username: xbox
Password: xbox

Remember that you can extract the files, edit the IP in “evox.ini” and re-burn as “UDF 128 Plus
8+3 bridge” to get FTP to work if the default IP (192.168.1.200) is not good for you.

B) Rebuild either a Retail or Upgraded HDD from scratch.

This feature will format, partition and wipe all existing files on the HD!

No need to do ANYTHING to a HD prior to a Rebuild. You can even use a HD with un-needed
data on it. It will be automatically formatted and configured!

It will then receive the M$ Dashboard as well as the EvoX Dashboard along with the latest
version of XBMP & the most popular homebrew apps.

NOTE: This process takes about 5 min with a CD-RW & 3 min on DVD-R due to the large
amount of files being copied, so be patient.

C) Flash TSOP of Xbox, homebrew or Xecuter2 with latest BIOS’ from EvoX
and Xecuter.

The Installer has been updated to support most chips but this is by no means foolproof and can
render your Xbox dead! Also, this feature should be used if you have a non LPC mod Chip and
after you have bridged the 2 write enable points on the Xbox motherboard as described in the
tutorials on xbox-scene.com: -

Both the Xecuter2-Lite & Pro support this but Xecuter1.0 or 1.1 do not!

Included BIOS’, whenever possible, are both 256K & 1MB in size and therefore compatible
with both the Matrix (256K) and the Xbox TSOP which needs 1MB.

General Troubleshooting:
During testing I discovered that most of the problems are due to bad or
incompatible media used for the installer. Check your media first!

Also, out of all the bioses tested the X2 4977 seems to be the most compatible
and has had the least number of issues with the different homebrew software and
the games. If you experience software problems, try the X2 4977

No Boot: Please note that the Xbox is very picky about CD/DVD media, slow burned
CD-RW (2X or 4X) and DVD-R have proven to be the most compatible.

No Boot 2: If the installer does not boot even on a good CD-RW/DVD-R due to a brand
new hard drive being set-up it’s because of the BIOS on your mod-chip.
Manually install the X2 4977 or the EvoX D.6 BIOS and it will allow the
CD-RW to boot properly. This “No CD boot on new HD” problem has been
reported with the older Xecutor2 BIOS’!

M$ Dash: If the Xbox boots the M$ Dashboard instead of the EvoX Dashboard after a
“rebuild” then your BIOS does not support starting from “evoxdash.xbe” and
defaults to “xboxdash.xbe”. You must upgrade your BIOS to X2 4972 or
EvoX D.6 or newer!
If all was OK before but you get an error trying to boot the M$ dash after
you’ve disabled your mod chip, you must make sure you lock the HD from
the installer menu or ConfigMagic first!

Error 13: You are using and old BIOS on your mod-chip and must upgrade! Use the
latest MultiVersion X2 4977 or EvoX D.6 or newer!

Error 16: If the Xbox loses clock time, it interrupts the boot sequence and tries to load
the clock menu before booting from the DVD drive. (Thanks dcaruana).

Try using the D.6 BIOS or the customized X2 4977 *FC* in Options 7-5;
7-6; 7-7 or 7-8 as they seem to handle this problem better.

SlaYer Recommends:

If you are going to buy a mod chip, get a PC-NitroXX or an Xecuter2!

Though I swear by the Xecuter2 BIOS itself and their super cool IGR, I prefer the NitroXX
mod-chip due to its simplicity, simple "Retail Mode" start-up with just a touch of the Eject
button and the fact that you can program it via your PC. No need to burn CD's or FTP to your
Xbox. X2 Pro supports that too. Be aware that the NitroXX only works with v1.0-v1.2 only!

BioXX mod chips (predecessors to the NitroXX) before hardware version 5, are
detectable by M$ in Xbox Live even if Xbox is powered on via Eject! The NitroXX
fixes this and keeps the chip 100% stealth when powered with the eject button!
