A National Youth Songwriting Contest on Climate Change Adaptation

KaLikhaSan is a national youth songwriting contest on climate change adaptation

that aims to make the youth aware of critical environmental issues and their role
in building climate-smart and resilient communities. This project is in line with
the climate change awareness campaign/advocacy campaign of the Laguna Lake
Development Authority (LLDA) in cooperation with the Office of the Presidential
Adviser on Environmental Protection (OPAEP), and the Council of Asian Liberals
and Democrats (CALD).

A screening committee will select a shortlist of ten (10) finalists. A jury will then
select 1st (PHP 25,000.00), 2nd (PHP 15,000.00), and 3rd (PHP 10,000.00), prizes from
these finalists. The winning song and the runners-up will receive cash prizes in an
awarding ceremony to be held at the First-Ever Green Building of Government-the
LLDA Headquarters, National Ecology Center East Avenue, Diliman Quezon City.
The composer of the winning song will also have a chance to perform his/her winning
entry in an international event outside the Philippines.

Eligibility
 The contest is open to all Filipino citizens who are not more than 30 years old by
31 December 2015.
 Officials and staff members of OPAEP, LLDA, CALD and partner organizations
and their relatives up to the third degree of consanguinity and affinity are ineligible
to join the contest.

Mechanics
 All entries must be original compositions of the person submitting/participating
and have never been commercially released.
 The entries can be in any Philippine language or dialect, or English. However,
entries which are not in Filipino or English will require a translated text to English
or Filipino.
 Each person may submit only one (1) entry as above specified, whether as an
individual or as part of a group.
 Entries must be submitted in MP3 or MP4 format through the contest’s official
email address (kalikhasancontest@gmail.com)
 All entries must be accompanied by a duly accomplished Application Form (can be
downloaded from the contest’s official Facebook page).
 Email Subject of all entries to be submitted shall have the following format:
Surname, First Name: Title of the Song.
 Persons submitting entries must be amenable to the rules, guidelines and
requirements of the LLDA with respect to the use and rights over the entries.
 Questions/clarifications regarding the contest will be entertained at the contest’s
official Facebook page.
 Decisions of the Board of Judges (BOJ) are final.
 Deadline for submission of entries is February 7, 2016.
Rights
▪ Any entry submitted shall remain the intellectual property of its creator.
▪ However, the creators of the entries that will be chosen as finalists of the
contest shall grant the organizers the right to use the materials without
restrictions in the next three (3) years for the purpose of, and in connection
with their respective advocacy/advocacies
▪ The owners of the winning entries (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) shall allow the organizers to
make adjustments and modifications to their respective lyrics, melody, harmony,
rhythm, timbre and form for the sole and exclusive purpose of the
advocacy/advocacies of the organizers, which shall in no way be commercial. The
adjustments and/or modification shall not accrue to the original work.
▪ The entrant shall indemnify and hold the organizers free and harmless from any
and all liabilities that may arise from copyright infringement, violation of
intellectual property rights, and/or any ownership-related issues.
