A landslide is the movement of rock, earth, or debris down a sloped section of land.

Landslides are caused by rain, earthquakes, volcanoes, or other factors that make the slope
unstable.
Types of landslides :
1. Translation avalanche
The avalanche occurred as the mass movement of soil and rock in the field of flat or
menggelombang shaped slip ramps .
2. Rotation avalanche
Avalanches rotation arising from the mass movement of soil and rock on the slip plane is
concave .
3. Block movement
Blog movement occurs due to the displacement of rock which operates in the field of flat -
shaped slip . This type of avalanche is called translational block of rock avalanches .
4. Stone ruins
Stone ruins occurs when a large amount of rock or other material moves down by way of a
free fall . These avalanches usually occur on steep slopes sampaimenggantung , especially
coastal areas . Debris large stones can cause severe damage

Landslide caused by :
1. Heavy Rainfall
When sloped areas become completely saturated by heavy rainfall many times landslides
can occur. Water can trigger landslides and mudslides because it alters the pressure within
the slope, which leads to slope instability
2. Crushed stone
3. Littering
4. Barren forest
5. Erosion
6. Vibration
7. Steep cliffs
8. Alluvial land
Effect of landslides :
1. Landslides block the roads and lead to problembs of communication. It cause disruption of
communicatiom
2. Landslides often block ribers and result in dangers of floods
3. Landslides affect poultry and agriculture of the region
4. Destruction natural environment
5. Destruction of property
Prevention of landslide :
1. Stop the illegal loging
2. Maintain as much vegetation as possible on the slope to help retain the soil
3. Do not put yard waste on the slope
4. Do not have an irrigation system on hillside
5. Don’t locate swimming pools near a slope
