Sub: Asian Highways — Installation of Route Signs
Sir,
Please refer to the letter no, NH-24011/2/2010-R&Mdated 30 November,
2010 received from Ministry of Road ‘Transport & Highways on the Installation of
Asian Highways (AH) Route Signs on the stretches of Asian Highways in
India.(Copy enclosed).
India is a signatory of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Asian
Highways network; which was ratified in Dec, 2008. The Article IV of the
iBrfement provides for the instalation of AH route signs whose details are given
i Amexure III of the Agreement. These signs are to be installed within a period
of five years from the date of entry into the Agreement by India,
‘The shape/size and other information /clevfication regarding the AH
Route signs would be as per the guidelines prescribed in the code IRC: 67-2010
(C1-16.104 for the AH route marker sign) published by the IRC (Copy enclosed).
It is requested thatthe progress report onthe installation of route signs on
Asian Highways Routes may please be furnished by 20” December, 2010, ‘The
existing Asian Highways Routes in India is annexed with the Ministry’s letter,

‘AH route signs whose details are given in Annexure III of the Agreement. These signs are to be
installed within a period of five years from the date of entry into the Agreement by India. In this
regard, a copy of the Intergovernmental Agreement had been forwarded to you vide letter of
‘even no. dated 02.03.2006 and it was requested to kindly initiate action for installation of these
route signs.
3. The shape/size and other information/clarification regarding the AH Route signs would
be as per the guidelines prescribed in the code IRC: 67-2010 (Cl. 16.10.4 for the AH route
marker sign) published by the IRC (copy enclosed).
4. Therefore, itis requested that, the work of installation of route signs as prescribed may be
completed, if not already taken up and a progress report on the installation of the route signs on
the Asian Highway routes may please be furnished to this Ministry at the earliest
