similarities and differences in groups of organisms. a. Construct an argument supported by evidence
for how animals can be grouped according to their features.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Students will be able to see different types of animals on this
PowerPoint that they may not be familiar with in real-life. Having a PowerPoint slide on different organisms
can help the students group them based on what they are looking at to be considered as features.

Lesson idea implementation: I will address the standard written on the board, I will show my students this
PowerPoint to give them a background on certain types of animals. I will create an anchor chart and the
students will have to use evidence from what they saw in the PowerPoint to point out how the animals are all
different based on certain features. The teacher will list out certain features she saw to spark the students
interest. Learning will be assessed based off of their content objectives and technology objectives. To see if
they understood the content as well as if they understood how PowerPoint works.
I will extend my students learning by creating another PowerPoint based on their findings of the features of
different animals and the students can help the teacher make the PowerPoint. I will conclude this lesson by
asking the students what features we came up with that are similar and different among the animals. I will
provide students feedback on their content of animals and their understanding of how the PowerPoint helped
them understand certain features.
Reflective Practice: I feel that using PowerPoint slides can help students learning because it is visually
pleasing to the student’s eye and it can help them visualize something they normally aren’t used to with the
technology it provides in the classroom. Using this type of software can be eye-opening for the students later
on in life so they can be familiar with the technology. I could extend the lesson by allowing the students to
create a PowerPoint with the teachers help and present it to the class as they finalize it.
