Foremost, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to our research adviser Mr.

Lester Linsangan for continuous support of our research, for his patience, motivation and

immense knowledge. His guidance helped in all the time of our research and writing this

thesis.

Also, we would like to thank our research teacher Mr. Reynante Bustillos for his

encouragement, insightful comments and suggestions in our thesis. We are also

ABSTRACT

The present research attempts to study the significant difference between the profile of

the respondents and the contributing factors of math anxiety. The researchers used a

descriptive method of research. The respondents of the study were 200 Grade 9 and

Grade 10 students enrolled in San Mariano National High School during the school year

of 2017-2018. The sampling technique used was stratified random sampling. The

instrument used to collect data and information was the questionnaire with proposed 30 –

item questions. The researchers concluded that in contributing factors that cause math

anxiety, self- assessment factor was the highest followed by environmental factor and

emotional factor. The researchers concluded that there is no significant difference

between male and female in contributing factors that cause math anxiety. The researchers

concluded that there is no significant difference between Grade 9 and Grade 10 in

contributing factors that cause math anxiety.
