Born on the 22nd December, 1958 in Winnipeg, MB, CANADA.
Tom recently retired from a lengthy political career in the Manitoba Legislative Assembly having served four terms in office from 1999-2016. He was honoured to be a member of the Executive Council as the Minister of Conservation and Water Stewardship. He was also the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, was Legislative Assistant to a number of ministers over the years, chaired the Legislative Review Committee of Caucus for over a decade as well as numerous Standing Committees of the Assembly. Prior to his political career, Tom spent almost two decades working in the Alberta oilfields on the drilling rigs thereby gaining considerable experience in heavy industry and resource extraction. In 1987, he graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa with a BA (Honours) in East European Studies. He wrote his thesis on the Russian oil and natural gas industries which was a series of case studies of Canadian firms that had succeeded in establishing themselves in that marketplace. For over a decade he was president of Aberdeen Lodge Ltd. Which is a family-owned sport fishing business in northern Manitoba. He and his wife, Rozanne, currently reside in rural Manitoba where they operate a small sheep ranch.
