VSC NEWSLETTER FOR DECEMBER 2018

Volume 66, Issue 12 –www.bhcare.org

FROM YOUR EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE!

President Julianne M. VP Sylvia H. and Secretary Paula B.

Hello Members,
This past month was very busy. Club members attended the BHcare Annual
Breakfast at Racebrook Country Club in Orange on November 1st. We always look
forward to this event. Our sister club, OPTIONS also attended with a nice amount
of members.
We also attended the Thanksgiving Dinner at OPTIONS in Branford. What a great
dinner they all put on! We enjoyed it all!! We hope you all did too! We have been
doing a lot with Fellowship Place in New Haven. We love going to their dances.
We have fun together. Finally, we enjoyed the VSC Thanksgiving Lunch at Christ
Church. Everything was really good and we would like to thank all of our members
who did the centerpieces with Jacques in Arts and Crafts Class. They made the
tables look really nice. We love when we have staff share the holiday’s with us, so
thanks to all who made turkeys, the food, served, set up and clean up as well.
Thanks to John Dykman for driving people to and from the center. It was a real
team effort. Julianne did a great job on the Thanksgiving Raffle too. Last but not
least, thanks to all who brought food for our annual food drive for the church. We
know they really appreciated it, and we hope it helps their food bank, help those
families in need.
Special Thanks goes out to our raffle angel, Barbara at MSP and Nancy C. Thanks
to the Under the Tree Donations, Bingo Donations, Food Drive Donations, and all
the holiday volunteers for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. We appreciate you!
So until next year, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas. Happy Kwanzaa, and all
the special days of this month.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERY MEMBER!

OPTIONS THANKSGIVING LUNCH BY JOHN L.
Some of the Valley Social Club members, myself included attended a tasty lunch at
OPTIONS Social Club in Branford. The meal was prepared by their
staff. I enjoyed the turkey lunch very much! The staff did a lovely
job. I thank them profoundly for their hard work. We enjoyed
visiting with their members. We all had a joyful job socializing and
wishing holiday greetings. This was a grand time for our club and
we thank OPTIONS for inviting us. They are good hosts. We all look
forward to the many good time to come. Peace to all and Happy
Holidays. Keep safe!

END OF THE YEAR THOUGHTS!

I would like to say this year really brought some challenges, wonderment and just about all kinds of
things. The club got really involved in Keep the Promise, which turned 20 years old. The club did
some great activities too like more members learned how to paint, we danced a lot more this year!
We crowned two new Wii and pool champions in March. We returned a great Executive Committee
to continue its mission in bringing the club into the next decade. We had losses too in staff and
members that really hurt our hearts and we will never forget you all. We had new kitchen counters,
faucets, sprayers and cabinets that made our kitchen look so much better too thanks Rob C. for all
your hard work! Jacques and myself learned to cook some new meals and find ways to teach our
club members how to take care of themselves. Warm Line is doing fabulous with calls from across
the country too! So here is to a new year! I can’t wait for what the club will accomplish next!
