Each note in relation to the first is numbered as an
interval. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8. Each of those played in unison with the 1 is a harmony named after the interval. 1&3 is a third 1&5 is a fifth etc. These are the building blocks of chords. A major bar chord is just a 5th with a major 3rd. Learn the minor scale and apply the same methods. A minor 3rd is just one note away from a major 3rd. A minor is a good starting point. That and learning the notes for each fret. But that comes naturally with chords
