ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I would like to express my special thanks of

gratitude to my physics teacher mr. r. p. singh who

gave me the golden opportunity to do this project

of physics which helped me in doing a lot of

research work and I came to know about new

things.

He gave me valuable guidance and suggestions to

complete this project within the limited period. My

project has been a success because of him only.

AIM

To construct a full
wave rectifier and
show that
A l t e r n a t i n g Current is
rectified into a Direct
Current.

Theory
A full wave rectifier is a device which is used to rectify all the alternating

current components in an alternating supply and make it purely a direct

current. The two alternating halves of an alternation current are rectified in a

full wave rectifier which is an advantage over a half wave rectifier. Most

electronic devices cannot withstand very high voltage or alternating current

due to its intense high power. The use of batteries in all devices is not practical

as their replacement and durability is a huge problem as the device has to be

dismantled each time for such a replacement. So these rectifiers are used in

most of the electronic devices like TVs, Radios, Chargers, and Lightings etc.

A Diode bridge is an arrangement of four or more diodes in a bridge circuit

configuration that provides the same polarity of output for either polarity of

input. When used in its most common application, for conversion of an

alternating current (AC) input into a direct current (DC) output, it is known as a

bridge rectifier. A bridge rectifier provides full-wave rectification from two-

wire AC input, resulting in lower cost and weight as compared to a rectifier

with a 3-wire input from a transformer with a centre-tapped secondary

winding.
