Introduction
This is a group assignment which predominantly relates to the topics of Industrialised Building System (IBS).
Before embarking on this project students will be exposed to different types and methods of the IBS system and
the calculation of IBS scoring in the classroom. First, the group are require to design a 3-storey apartment block
using mainly IBS components. The group has to construct a physical sectional model of the building to show the
IBS components in detail.
Objectives of Project
Submission Requirement
1. An A3 size report consist of the study of proposed IBS categories and components, relevant drawings
(refer methodology), construction sequence as well as IBS score calculation for the building.
2. A sectional model of the apartment in 1:50 or 1:25 scale. The model shall be presented as full height
section and shall be partial of the building.
Marking criteria
Completeness of submission
Authenticity, creativity and workability of the design.
Appropriateness and the number of IBS method used translated into model form and drawings.
Quality of workmanship for physical model
Discussion on issues related to fabrication of components, the sequences of IBS construction,
practicality and IBS scoring method.
Appropriateness and understanding of applied construction, material and services.

1. The Project Brief is to be distributed to the students in the first week of the semester.
2. Any changes to the Project Brief shall be communicated (in writing) to the Programme Director and the
approved revised version must be communicated to the students.
