Mild Steel Enclosures
FEATURES:
Material: Mild Steel
METAL ENCLOSURES
Thickness: 1mm: 200w x 200h x 150d to 400w x 300h x 200d
1.2mm: 400w x 400h x 150d to 400w x 600h x 250d
1.5mm: 400w x 700h x 200d and above
Mounting Plate: 2mm Alu-zinc. Included with supply. Sizes above 800mm height have folded edges for added strength.
Construction: Fully welded. The front lip of the enclosure is folded to provide rigidity and forms a gutter to keep liquids from the gasket.
Four wall mounting holes on the back panel of the enclosure are provided with plastic plugs that protect the body when
the enclosure is placed on its back.
Door: Folded edges provide rigidity to the door. Doors open up to 120°, can be hinged right or left and can be easily removed
with lift-off type spring pin hinges. The gasket is continuous formed polyurethane which provides excellent sealing and a
high IP rating over a very long life. Doors are provided with standard double wing locks. A choice of locks and handles
are available as options.
Gland Plates: Gland plates are provided with gaskets and fixing studs. The size and number of gland plates depends on the enclosure
size.
Finish: Epoxy polyester powder coated with a textured finish.
Rating & Approvals: Rated IP65, UL & CSA approved.

FITTING INSTRUCTIONS

LEFT / RIGHT

Step 1
Remove the door by pulling the pin on the hinge.
Undo one fixing screw (the ones on the extreme top and bottom) on each hinge using the 3mm allen head driver and the 8mm spanner. Fit 2 of
the escutcheon door mounting brackets at the top and bottom under the hinges. Fix the 2 hinges screws directly to the brackets.
Step 2
Remove 2 of the 4 plastic plugs (the ones on the extreme top and bottom) on lock side of enclosure. Fit the 2 remaining escutcheon door
mounting brackets using the Phillips head screws.
Step 3
Place the escutcheon door in position. Ensure to place the side with the slots for the lock cams towards the lock side of the enclosure. Fit the 4mm
socket head screws on the hinge side first and make sure that the door swings freely. The door can be held in place by fixing the remaining
2 socket head screws on the lock side.

Mounting plates - Strengthened thanks to the double folded sides, these plates can be slid into position with ease from the front even when
heavily populated. Depth adjustable in 25mm increments.
Rear Panels - Can be replaced by a door.
Roof panel - Easily removable
Side panels - Supplied in packs of 2.
Locking - 4 point locking system with a 3mm double bit lock insert. Key supplied. Handles are optional.
Earthing - All panels and doors are equipped with earthing studs.
Delivery - Flat pack supply with all pieces individually packaged and with assembly instructions supplied. Crated or palletised.

DBE - STEEL DOOR
DTE - GLAZED DOOR
Completely reversible & made from 2mm thick sheet steel for added strength in case of mounting heavy equipment. The door is stiffened further
around the perimeter with an internal perforated galvanised square tube frame, which doubles up as a mounting support rail for mounting of
equipment on the inside of the door.
Standard opening of 120°, which can be increased to 180° on request.
A poured on polyurethane foam gasket ensures maximum sealing.
4 point locking system as standard, with a double bit lock insert. Handle options available, see page 34.
Each door is equipped with M6 studs for earthing connection.
All hinges, lock receivers and fixing hardware supplied with door.
The DTE glazed doors are supplied as above but with the addition of a 4mm sheet of Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) glazing. This sheet of
PMMA is fixed to the door with a double adhesive closed cell acrylic film and is shock and temperature resistant.

Selection - Component Form - Mounting Plates
PNA - MOUNTING PLATES
2.5mm thick galvanised sheet steel, with folded sides for added rigidity.
The standard fixing kit supplied allows the mounting plate to be depth adjusted.
METAL ENCLOSURES
The mounting plate can also be fitted flush within the rear profiles of the cabinet for
maximum useable depth by ordering the APK110 fixing kit separately.
The removal & insertion of the mounting plate is simplified due to the self locating nylon
sliders at the bottom of the plate allowing you to slide the mounting plate into position.

Accessories - Internal Doors and
Roof Canopies
DBI - INTERNAL DOOR

The internal door is fixed to the inner frame of the enclosure. It consists of two vertical and two horizontal pieces. The two vertical pieces are fixed
to the sides of the enclosure, and the top and bottom horizontal pieces are fixed directly to the vertical pieces. The door is equipped with hinges
that allow an opening of more than 110° and is locked by double bit cam locks top and bottom.
Made from 1.8 mm sheet steel.
An internal stiffening frame ensures rigidity.
Finished in RAL7035 grey.
IP44 rating.

Roof Exhaust Unit
Roof exhaust units are used to suck heat directly from the upper regions of the cabinets facilitating good internal air flow.
The Fandis “TP” series is compact and provides connection via a terminal block. They are designed to suit any metal plate thickness.
The frame is in plastic and the top is of aluminium.
To be used in conjunction with a suitable outlet grill mounted at the bottom of the enclosure.
Features:
- Colour RAL 7035.
- Standard degree of protection - IP24 & IP54.
- Permanent sealing gasket in polyurethane foam.
- Plastic parts - ABS/PC alloy. All self-extinguishing acc. to UL 94V-0.

Frame Fans
A broad selection of standard and custom designed axial and centrifugal frame fans
driven by AC shaded pole or capacitor motor, or alternatively with a brushless DC
motor.
Available in various sizes, operating voltages and fan speeds, these fans cover the
different requirements of electronics ventilation and meet with tough specifications as
to compactness and efficiency.
Depending on the application the frame fans can be fitted with either extremely
durable ball bearings or with a cost effective efficient sleeve bearing system assuring
smooth operation.
These fans are for special applications specifically designed for harsh external
conditions.
Available in IP25 & IP55 versions, they provide effective protection against hostile
elements such as dust, oil, humidity, water and salt fog spray.
Thanks to an all metal construction and class “F” AC motor, the (HTR) high
temperature resistant fans tolerate elevated heat conditions (up to +90°C) improving
operational performance & reliability.

THERMOELECTRIC UNITS
Thermoelectric units are an effective solution for the conditioning of small enclosures
and cabinets. These units are heat pumps where electrical energy transfers heat with
out using hazardous gases or liquids. Unlike conventional units these do not have
any moving parts besides the fans.
At the core of the system are one or more thermoelectric (Peltier) modules that on the
application of d.c. electric current allow heat absorption from one side and releases it
to the other side. The units can be used to do both heating & cooling. By reversing
the direction of electrical current through the modules the direction of heat transfer
can be reversed. Degree of protection IP55. Suitable for outdoor applications.

PAINT SPECIFICATIONS
PAINTING CYCLE
The paint finish is carried out by a continuous automatic system which passes trough the following phases:
Washing and degreasing with an iron-phosphate degreaser at a temperature of 55°C.
Further degreasing with a passivating substance in two stages to completely clean all surfaces and provide a super clean surface for the finish.
Oven-drying at 120°C.
Painting in a robotized cabin (which guarantees the uniformity of thickness of the film) with varnishes in epoxy-polyester heat-drying powders
applied electrostatically.
Polymerization in an oven for about 18 minutes at 190°C.
CHARACTERISTICS OF MATERIALS USED
Description: Grained semi gloss epoxy-polyester.

Specific weigth: 1,62 +/- 0,05 Kg/dm cubed (the effective time and temperature on the piece) 160°C x 20.000.

Plastics
A plastic is a material that can be formed and shaped into finished articles using heat (thermoformed). It has a molecular structure that consists of
very long chains of polymers formed by the interaction of many molecules (monomers) or molecular pairs.
A distinction is made between thermoplastics and thermosettings.
Thermoplastics
Made by injection of the molten plastic into a cool mould. Parts formed from thermoplastics can be repeatedly softened by an increase of
temperature. Most thermoplastics are soluble in a suitable organic solvent.
Thermosettings
Made by forming the plastic objects in a hot mould. Once formed, it becomes substantially infusible and also insoluble because of the crosslinked
molecular structure. Thus products from materials made using thermosettings do no melt upon heating and are practically insoluble to most
commercial solvents. Some softening under the effect of commercial solvents is however possible.
Advantages of Plastics
Double insulation ensures perfect safety against direct and indirect contact.
The frame does not need to be earthed.
Unlikely metals, plastics are corrosion-resistant.
The enclosures are homogeneous, thus they do not require any maintenance even when scratched, as only more of the same materials
will be exposed.
Due to their light weight plastic enclosures can be very easily handled and installed.
