Assignment 4

In this assignment, you will prepare a Procurement management plan and cause-effect diagram you
will be using for monitoring and controlling the project.

1. Using the tools you leant in class, prepare a make-or-buy analysis and decide the best
procurement plan for the IT system for your project. Please explain your selection criteria
(see example in figure 12-4, page 483).

2. State and justify the contract type for any part of your system you will be needing an
external entity or contractor.

3. Using the fishbone/Ishikawa diagram (see figure 8-5, page 309) trace the source of the
cause and effect that your project intends to propose an It solution. This diagram will be
used to assess the quality/usability dimension of the project.

Save the diagrams as “your team name Assignment 4.” All assignments should be submitted on
blackboard. Time submitted will be used for timely submission. For the cover page, you can
submit it AT THE START OF THE CLASS ON THE DUE DATE. The cover includes project
name, team name, assignment number, pledge that the work submitted was solely done by your
team members, and signatures of team members who participated and contributed to the
assignment.

Grading guidelines:
 On time completion
 Professionalism (overall neatness, correct language and spelling, following directions for the
cover page, etc.)
 A make-or-buy decision
 Include all important input for the decision
 Show financially why your choice of make or buy is superior
 Contract type
 identify various contract type that can be used for your supplies
 demonstrate why your choice of contract type is superior
 A cause-and-effect diagram
 identify at least 4 major causes
 identify at least 4 major effect
