Grade 9 Unit 2 Summative Assessment Task 

 
 

The challenge: 

Goal  To design an 8 station fitness circuit with the specific needs of a client in mind 

Role  You are acting in the capacity of a Personal Trainer. 

Audience  You are working for a client with specific needs. 

Situation  Your client ​wants to improve their health and skill related fitness in order to 
better perform in their chosen sport.   

  Your will present your client with a portfolio that includes: 


  ​ ​A transcript of the interview (written up, video, sound file) 
 
  ​ ​You analysis of the clients needs based on the interview, and research 
Product  of your client’s chosen sport with a bibliography (typed/video) 
​ ​The fitness circuit (each station need to be justified in terms of how it

To complete this assignment you will need to provide a portfolio which 
includes each of the outcomes states below. 
 
 
Task 1: the interview 
You will need to prepare for and conduct an interview with your client to determine:  
● their current level of fitness 
● their purpose/goal of the workout   
● their level of commitment to the plan 
 
Before the interview prepare the questions that you need to ask them 
 
Evidence you need to provide: ​transcript of the interview including questions and answers. This 
may be submitted as a written document, a YouTube clip or a sound file. 
 
 
Task 2: analysis of your client and research their chosen sport 
You will need to: 
● evaluate your client’s level of fitness based on their responses to your interview 
● research your clients chosen sport, identifying and explaining the key components of 
fitness required for this sport 
● provide a bibliography stating your sources 
 
Evidence you need to provide: ​a typed document/video that addresses each of the points above 
 
 
Task 3: design the 8 station circuit 
You will need to: 
● design an 8 station circuit 
● state the fitness components being used in each station, and what is required (including a 
basic sketch 
● justify how that will help achieve your client’s goal 
● include a circuit order diagram 
 
Station 2 - Coordination and reaction time
The person training is thrown tennis balls very quickly and he has to catch turn drop, turn and catch again. This
works on speed and reaction time. The duration: 100 balls. This also works on the aerobic system and can include
some bursts of CP.

Task 4: video of your client completing the 
circuit 
You will need to: 
● Have someone record you coaching your client through 
the circuit  
● Explain each of the stations to your client justifying how 
they will help reach their overall goal

● Design a survey/form where your client can give you feedback on their level of satisfaction 
with your product and you as a Personal Trainer
