1. Rhetorical Knowledge
An articulate writer uses rhetorical knowledge to write with intention based on the audience,
genre, purpose, and context. Writers use rhetorical knowledge to help them with their writing
so the reader can better understand the writing. Rhetorical knowledge is used in various
ways, such as the tone or the type of style the writer uses.

● The two examples show rhetorical knowledge in separate ways. The first
example shows rhetorical knowledge through the article from King we had to
do the for the studio. King’s article shows how he responded to criticism
which shows how he kept in mind his intended audience. The second
example shows rhetorical knowledge through the possible ways of using
ethos, logos, and pathos for your purpose and intended audience.
2. Critical reading
An articulate writer uses critical reading to think critically about their writing and not just
assert information. Critical reading is the ability to analyze, synthesize, interpret, and
evaluate ideas, information and texts. Critical reading can be used through analyzing your
work, evaluating your sources and making sure you understand the sources you use in your
writing.

● For the critical reading examples i used my synthesis of research and the
research of the sources. In the first example, I evaluated my research in
order to relate them to each other and help the reader interpret them. In the
second example, i analyzed the research to better understand them and to
explain them to my audience.
3. Knowledge of conventions
An articulate writer uses their knowledge of conventions to govern mechanics, usage,
spelling and citation practices as well as influencing content, style and organization.
Knowledge of conventions are the formal and informal rules that define genre and shapes
the appropriateness of writing. Knowledge of conventions can be achieved through using
the correct format for the writing and making sure the grammar is correct.
● The examples i used for the knowledge on conventions consists of my thesis, and
my second draft. In my thesis, one of my peers points out a grammar issue which i
ended up fixing and also the works cited page of my thesis shows the organization
and format of the paper. In the last example, i use a specific format to create my
paper showing the knowledge on conventions.
4. Composing processes
An articulate writer uses composing processes to conceptualize, develop, and finalizing
writing. Composing processes is the way you setup your writing such as researching, drafts
and revising. The composing process can be achieved through the writer being flexible and
being able to adapt to different contexts and occasions.
● For the composing process examples i used the second studio, the research
for my topic, and the first draft. The second studio shows how i prepared for
writing the studio by providing what i observed in the environment where i
based my assignment on and then writing a description about it. The second
example shows the research in collected and how i interpreted it for later
usage. The third example shows the first draft and how feedback was
provided to improve my writing and how i became flexible to fixing it.
5. Critical reflection
An articulate writer uses critical reflection to articulate their thoughts and explain them.
Critical reflection is used through the various rhetorical situations included as well as the
writers reflections. Also critical reflection responds to criticism from the reader and
demonstrates their rhetorical awareness.
● The two examples i used to demonstrate critical reflection show how i
incorporated my thoughts in my writing and explained them. In the first
example, the synthesis of my research, demonstrated critical reflection
through me putting in my thoughts on how each source related to each other
and i also explained the sources. In the Thesis, i added my thoughts in my
topic while providing sources to support my claim and also explaining them.
