1) Find the area of a triangle, rhombus,
parallelogram and trapezium based on the area of
rectangle.

2) Solve problem involving area of a triangle,


rhombus, parallelogram and trapezium and
combination of those shapes.

Sucess 1) Two group are able to present, understand and


criteria give a correct answer in group activity “YES DO IT”
on how to find the area of triangle, rhombus,
parallelogram, and trapezium in Part A, also solve
problem involving the area of triangle, rhombus,
parallelogram, trapezium and the combination of
those shapes in Part B.

Activity Note/ Catatan


Set Induction 1) Teacher greets the students.
(5 min) 2) Teacher asks the student whether they have Emphasize on teaching
already take their breakfast or not.
3) Teacher said that it is important to take their aids, approach and
breakfast because if they did not take
technique use in PdPc
breakfast, they will feel hungry and will not
be able to concentrate in the class.
4) Teacher recaps the previous learning about
the estimation of area in various shape.
5) Teacher shows a picture (Diagram 1) and
asks the student whether they still remember
about how to find the area by using
estimation method or not.

6) The teacher recaps about how to find the


area by using estimation.
7) The teacher says “let say the area of 1 unit is

equal to 1𝑐𝑚 . So what is the total area of
the shaded region?
8) The teacher says that unit that is full shaded
or half or more than half should be calculated

as 1𝑐𝑚 .So the teacher asks the student
what is the total area of the shaded region in
diagram 1.
9) After the student answers the question. The
teacher says to the student “this is how we
calculate the area of shape by using
estimation method” but do you know the
other method that we can use to calculate
the area of shape?
10) After the student says “no”, the teacher says
“so do you want to know how to find the area
of shape by using others method?
11) After the student says “yes”, the teacher says
“so today we will learn about how to find the
area of shape by using others method which
is by using a formula”
12) Teacher says to the student they are going to
learn two lesson for today’s class:

- Lesson 1 : How to establish the formula of


area of triangle, rhombus, parallelogram and
trapezium based on area of rectangle.
- Lesson 2 : How to solve problem involving
area of triangle, rhombus, parallelogram,
trapezium and the combination of those
shape.

Development Lesson 1 : How to establish the formula of area of


(20 min) triangle, rhombus, parallelogram and trapezium
based on area of rectangle.

(10 min)
1) Teacher shows the shape of rectangle and
shows the formula on how to find the area of
a rectangle.

Area of rectangle : L x W
: Length x Width

Example :
Length = 4 cm, Width = 1 cm

Area of rectangle = 4 cm x 1 cm
= 4 𝑐𝑚2
2) Teacher shows the shape of the triangle and
asks the student to relate the shape with the
shape of a rectangle.

The combination of 2 triangles will get a rectangle.


So the teacher tells the student that the area of a
triangle is half of the area of a rectangle which is;

Example :
Base = 4 cm, Height = 3 cm

Area of triangle = 2 x 4 cm x 3 cm
= 6 𝑐𝑚2

3) Teacher shows the shape of the rhombus


and asks the student to relate the shape with
the shape of a rectangle.

Teacher shows to the student that the area of


rhombus is actually half of the area of a rectangle. If
we remove the blue area, it can make a new
rhombus which the size is the same with the grey
rhombus. So that means the area of rhombus is half
of the area of rectangle.

Example :
Width = 4 cm, Height = 3 cm

Area of rhombus = x 4 cm x 3 cm

4) Teacher shows the shape of parallelogram


and asks the student to relate the shape with
the shape of a rectangle.

Teacher shows to the student that if we take out the


orange area and put at in front of the shape, it also
will be a rectangle. It shows that the area of a
parallelogram is equal to the area of a rectangle.

Area of parallelogram : L x W
: Length x Width
Example :
Length = 4 cm, Width = 1 cm

Area of parallelogram = 4 cm x 1 cm
= 4 𝑐𝑚2

5) Teacher shows the shape of trapezium and


asks the student to relate the shape with the
shape of a rectangle.

The teacher shows to the student that the


combination of two trapeziums will get a shape of a
rectangle. It shows that the area of trapezium is
actually half of the area of a rectangle.

Width = a + b

Area of trapezium : 2 × (𝑎 + 𝑏) × 𝐻

Example :
Width a = 2 cm, Width b = 4 cm
Height = 3 cm

Area of trapezium = 2 x (2 cm + 4 cm) x 3 cm
= 9 𝑐𝑚2

The teacher asks the student, if they have a


question or didn’t understand. They can asks the
teacher.
Activity Lesson 2 : How to solve problem involving area of
(10 min) triangle, rhombus, parallelogram, trapezium and the
combination of those shape.

“YES DO IT”: the activity consists of 2 parts.

Part A: Calculate the area of the following shape.


Part B: Solve the problem of the combination shape.

Teacher divides the student into 4 groups consist of


5-6 members.
1) Teacher gives the handouts and mahjong
paper to each of the group.
2) Teacher says that he will call a random
representative from each of the group to
present their answer.
3) Part A consists of 4 questions and each of
the group will be ask to do 1 question.
4) Part B consists of 2 questions, group 1 & 2
will answer question 1, while group 3 & 4 will
answer question number 2.
5) The student should answer the question in (5
min)

After 5 min is done, teacher will call a random


representative from each group to come in front to
present their answer and explain about it. (this
presentation will take 5 min)

Teacher want every group to listen carefully about


other group presentation.

Conclusion
(5 min) 1) The teacher will asks students to summarize
the lesson. .
- Ask question and make sure they understand
about the area of each shape and how to
calculate the area by using the formula.
- Ask the student what is the formula of each
of the shape.

Follow-up Teacher asks the student to do exercise 10.2c at the


activity text book and send the task by next week.
