Class #1: Dribbling Course Physical Education


Title/Focus

PROGRAM OF STUDY OUTCOMES

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson students will be able to:
1. Dribble the soccer ball with control
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT
 Soccer balls
 Cones
 Nets
 Pinnies
PREPARATION AND LOGISTICAL CONSIDERATIONS
 Make sure the field clear of hazards
 Set up field before the first period
PROCEDURE
Introduction Time
 After students are changed, they will come into the gym and walk around
the basketball court (black lines)
 After 5 minutes we will blow a whistle, and students will line up 10 min
alphabetically in their home rooms.
 When attendance is done, students will split up into their module groups
Body Time
Basics of soccer 1) Students will go down to the soccer field, and we
will go over a couple questions to start off the
Dribbling skills unit.
2) How many people are on the field at a time?
3 min
3) What part of the body is not allowed to touch the
ball?
4) What is dribbling?
5) When is it used?
6) What part of your foot do you use to dribble the
ball?
Hungry hippo 1) Students will play in teams of 4.
(Steal the ball) 2) In the center circle on the field place all the
soccer balls.
3) Each team will have a cone evenly placed away
from the center circle.
4) One at a time, someone from each team will run
15 min
up to the center circle, and then have to dribble
the ball back to their teams hula hoop.
5) Once there are no more balls left in the center
circle, you are able to steal balls from other
team’s hula hoops.
6) Each round will go for approx. 5 minutes.
Relay races 1) Students will get into groups of 6.
2) Each group will need one ball, and will stand in
front of a cone.
3) I will tell them/demonstrate what each race will
look like.
4) Each person will need to go through the relay,
and when they come back they pass the ball off to 15 min
the next person in line.
5) If there are groups with less people, the students
will decide in their groups who will go twice.
6) When the students have completed their relay,
they must sit down to show me that they are
done.
Conclusion Time
 I will blow my whistle 3 times, and students will all run in to where I
am standing.

 We will review the skill that was covered today.
 Students are dismissed and can go get changed.
