Proposal – Animation

Title of production – Music Notes

Concept
There are 4 music notes, F, A, C and E. They are a group of friends who love
to play a tune together. One day note C goes missing and it’s all up to her
friends to find her so that they can play their tune again. This adventure story
follows the notes in a quest to find their friend, but along the way, the
audience also learn about the arpeggio FACE. This piece is educational and
fun and I want to engage children through music to entertain them. This
concept will also include Foley sounds of instruments to add to the comedic
nature of the production. From my target research, I have discovered that
elements of comedy help to engage a young audience and this is why I am
using comedy as well as the educational elements to help them to pay
attention to the animation.

Why are you producing this production?

I have decided to produce this animation because I think this idea is original
and hasn’t been done before. I want to explore education and
entertainment as a unit and learn more about what it can do to engage
young people in a fun way. I want to create lovable characters that children
can relate to, however I also want to spark a passion for music in children. I
think that music is important as it helps to create emotions and I want
children to have a better understanding of it and I hope my animation can
help to encourage children to learn an instrument or take up a new hobby to
do with music.

Deadline
The deadline for this animation is the 18th January. I will need to work hard to
get this animation finished and I also want it to look professional and
aesthetically pleasing. I want the animation to flow nicely so this means that I
will have to take enough photos in order to generate a good amount of
footage. I am going to need to ensure that I email college tutors to let them
know that I am shooting my animation on my set to ensure I have enough
hours to get it finished as it is a lengthy process.
Proposal – Animation

Target audience
My target audience are ages 5-12 year olds. I will need to make my
animation flow smoothly so that the young audience can concentrate on
the storyline and not on the quality of the footage. I want to add in some
of the children’s specified hobbies such as football and playing with friends. I
am going to add these activities into my animation so that the children can
relate more to the characters.

What they want to see

My target audience enjoy funny moments and characters so I definitely want
to focus on developing these and making them intriguing for the audience to
watch and enjoy. I want the characters to have their own personalities
because children begin to develop their own style and behaviours and I
really want these to come through in my characters.

What you are creating based from that research

From my research, I am creating a production that my target audience can
connect with. I am using my target research of animations to generate more
ideas for my own production. After watching some Wallace and Gromit clips,
I can pick up small details in the set that are effective and they add to the
mood of the piece. I want to focus on making my set look effective and help
to put across the happy mood to the audience. I want to create a make
believe world where these music notes live so that the young audience can
use their imaginations as well to think about where this make believe world
might be.

Where the production will be aired (why – based on target audience)

Based on target audience, I think that this production could be universal,
however it would be most suitable for Cbeebies or CBBC. Both of these
channels are aimed at children in my 5-12 age bracket and I think that this
production would be good for these channels. I want to create an
educational documentary that can also be fun for the older group within my
target audience.
