Intern Teacher: Valerie Phillips

University Consultant Comments:

It is with pleasure that I write this final report of Valerie Phillips’s successful Professional Semester III internship at Lethbridge
Collegiate Institute, in Lethbridge, Alberta.

In my observations of Ms. Phillips, she demonstrated many of the skills and attributes of a teaching professional. She was
always planned thoroughly and worked diligently to create a positive classroom environment. In addition to her work in the
classroom, one significant success of her experience was her ability to work collaboratively and productively with her Teacher
Mentors in planning.

Ms. Phillips demonstrated growth throughout her practicum in the areas of assessment and instruction. In her grade ten Social
Studies class, specifically, which was a combined 10-1/10-2 class, she worked toward her obligation to allow for a variety of
access points for her students to very complex issues. Effective differentiation of both instruction and assessment is
necessary in this sort of classroom – Ms. Phillips demonstrated strong growth in this area.

Ms. Phillips is clearly a caring and competent educator and I wish her the best of luck in what promises to be a rewarding
career.

I have read the complete Final Report and certify that the assigned grade is:
