Notes on the components of Incredible English 1

Class Book: The three festival sections after the main units are optional. The book includes 2
CDs, which should always be used.

Activity Book: It is absolutely essential that students’ listening skills be developed. Therefore,
the CD should always be used in the exercises which involve listening comprehension. The
Picture Dictionary pages are found at the back of the AB, along with the accompanying
stickers.

Teacher’s Book: We strongly recommend the use of the Teacher's Book, which will guide you
throughout the course. It contains the course syllabus; a resource bank of games and activities; a
list of sample classroom language; step-by-step teaching notes for every lesson in the book,
together with extra ideas; transcripts for all the recordings; answers for all activities;
photocopiable test pages; photocopiable portfolio pages and a wordlist containing the core
vocabulary and other key language.

Teacher’s Resource Pack: It contains materials for IE 1 and 2. The level 1 components are:
Flashcards, Photocopy Master’s Book (containing pupil word and picture cards for each unit, the
course ‘bookmark’, a cut-out for the ‘Learning through English’ extension, and an alphabet
worksheet), the Story Frames Book, a Norton puppet, Norton’s kit box, the Fixit Game poster and
the Fixit Game.

Reader: We suggest you deal with The Princess and the Frog after the winter holidays. There are
interesting exercises on the Activity Pages throughout the book. We strongly advise you to use the
Audio CD/CD Rom to help your students further develop their listening skills. We recommend
you buy the Teacher’s book, which contains the reader itself, some notes and the CD/CD Rom.

Incredible English 1 & 2 DVD: It supports the first two levels of the course and it is accompanied
by an Activity Book.

NOTE: Make sure that students can respond to questions by means of short answers (e.g. Yes,
she is, Yes, she has, No, he isn’t ,etc.) and not simply Yes or No.

Class Book: The three festival sections after the main units are optional. So are pages 24, 35,
42-43, 60-61 and 68-69. The book includes 3 CDs, which should always be used.

The Simple Past tense (of some regular verbs and was/were), which is introduced in unit 9, will
only be tested for recognition in the final written exam in the following exercises: CIRCLE
THE CORRECT ANSWER and MATCH A LINE IN A WITH....
It will not be tested in the writing section or in the oral exam

Writing: see 2018 Types of writing for Kids

NOTE: Teach Simple Present affirmative while dealing with unit 5 and before starting to work
with the reader. Give students lots of practice so that by the time they do the final exam they
can make sentences successfully. Also make sure that students can respond to questions by
means of short answers (e.g. Yes, she does, etc.) and not simply Yes or No.

Note: Even though there are sentences using ‘must’ students are not expected to use this modal

o DISCOVER ENGLISH Starter U. 1 to 7 (Students’ Book & Workbook)

o CROCODILE IN THE HOUSE

Students’ Book: Include the three lessons in the Starter Unit and the five lessons in units 1
to7.It is highly recommended that you use the photocopiable grammar worksheets (containing
consolidation and extension exercises) and the photocopiable resource section for each unit in
the Teacher’s Book. The book includes 2 CDs, which should always be used

Writing: See 2018 Types of writing for Kids

Workook: There are plenty of varied activities which your students should do in order to further
practise what is taught in class. There is a CD-ROM at the back of the book for students to work
with at home on their own or in class, at your discretion. There is a page of stickers that your
pupils will love.
There is a starring system of 1 to 3 stars for level of difficulty on the grammar exercises.This
could be useful to help deal with fast finishers.

Reader: We suggest you deal with Crocodile in the House after the winter holidays. We advise
you to carry out the activities at the back of the book.

Teacher’s Book: We strongly recommend the use of the Teacher's Book, which will guide you
throughout the course. It contains the course syllabus; step-by-step teaching notes for every lesson
in the book together with all the student’s book pages, workbook/extra words/test book answer
key, tapescripts, photocopiable grammar worksheets/unit and festival resources / extra resources,
and flashcards. The teaching notes offer you, among other things, ideas to help you cater for fast
finishers. Lastly, the teacher’s book contains a Games Bank on page 16-19 and an extremely
useful section ‘In the Classroom’ on page 10, containing tips on how to deal with the different
sections and components of the series, classroom situations and management.

Test Book: It contains progress tests for every unit; skills tests (listening-reading , writing-
speaking exercises) every two units and an end of year progress test. The audio for the listening
exercises in the tests is found in the second CD of the audio pack. There are two versions, A & B
of both tests to help you deal with cheating. They both cover the same material and use the same
question types.

DVD. A motivating DVD also accompanies the course, which really helps to bring live English
into the classroom and to provide variety. It is called “Life in Britain”. The DVD has an optional
interactive feature which allows you to fully exploit each episode.

For further grammar practice we recommend Grammar Friends 1 by Tim Ward and Round Up 1 by
Virginia Evans.

Students’ Book: Include the four lessons in the Starter Unit and the five lessons in units 1 to 6 and 8-9.
It is highly recommended that you use the photocopiable grammar worksheets (containing consolidation
and extension exercises) and the photocopiable resource section for each unit in the Teacher’s Book.
The book includes 3 CDs, which should always be used.

Reading and Writing: Deal with the reader and give pupils systematic writing practice, starting with one
paragraph and helping them to write a piece of two at the final exam.

FINAL TEST: Simple Past Tense will NOT be tested in the exercise WRITING of the Written exam. As for the Oral
exam, students will be asked a few questions using Past Tense in Part A, but not in Part B (Reader).

Remember Kids 5 is for pupils who are attending 7th grade

o PROJECT 2 4TH Edition U. Introduction to 6 (Student’s Book & Workbook)

Teach the Past Tense of the following verbs: see, eat, drink, come, give, make, do.

Students’ Book: The book consists of an Introduction section and 6 units. The English Across the Curriculum
sections at the end of every unit are optional.

Extra Reading Practice: There is a section at the end of the book called Reading which includes stories for
students to read and listen. This is optional

Writing: The pupils will be expected to produce a piece of two or three paragraphs in the final exam. Give them
systematic writing practice, starting with one paragraph and helping them to write a piece of two or three by the end of

Workook: There are plenty of varied activities which your students should do in order to further practise what is

and also animated versions of the cartoon stories.

Reader: Remember to help students go through A Little Trouble in California by means of pre, while and after
reading activities in order to make the reading of the story an amusing learning activity. To that purpose you can use
