Treatments Plan
Alzheimer is six leading death in American over the age 65. With the aging population,
there will be an increase in the need for caregiver. With this increase there they will be an
increase in costs to take care of this population. Over the next 30 years will Alzheimer affect
average American life and future. In this paper, will explain why Alzheimer affect America
future and economy? By explaining the different treatment plan for patients and tip for the
The goal of treatment is to improve the quality of life for the patient and the caregiver.
Also to detect the disease before it causes the symptoms. This can be achieved by these step
slowing the progression, managing the behavioral symptoms of Alzheimer, and education for the
family/caregiver. Step one can be achieved by involving methods of slowing cognitive decline
and treating specific symptoms with drug or non-drug therapies. Step two have many different
methods but first, you should try a Non-drug approach. This can include modifying the home
environment to make it safer, therapeutic activities, and maintaining overall health through

regular medical care, proper diet and exercise. If these do not work it ask the doctor for a drug
approach. You should tell your doctor about behavioral problems and should keep track of day-
to-day changes in behavior and symptoms in a journal or notebook. The final step is educated the
family and caregiver to help improve the care of Alzheimer patients. Research shows that when
families and caregivers are educated about Alzheimer’s disease have the proper support for their
care of the person with Alzheimer’s is improved. ( “What Are the Goals of Alzheimer's

Treatments for Sleep Changes, and Alternative Treatments. All medications are approved by the
FDA. The two main medications used for Alzheimer are cholinesterase inhibitors and
memantine. Medications vary depending on what stages you are on. For behavior, they are two
treatments drugs and non-drugs. Some common changes are irritability, anxiety, and depression
in the early stages. In the later stages, changes can be sleep issues, sundowning, hallucinations,
physical or verbal outbursts, and etc. Moving to a new residence or nursing home, admission to a
hospital, or being asked to bathe or change clothes can be a Triggering situation. Some question
you can ask your doctor is what treatment options are available, which option do you think best
fits our situation, what kind of assessment will you use to determine if the treatment is effective,

With all these treatments there are a way to diagnosis the disease like a physical and
neurological exam, lab tests, and brain imaging. Both exams will test your reflexes, muscle

tone/strength, sight, hearing, coordination, balance, and the ability to get up from a chair and
walk across the room. Some lab tests would include a blood test to rule out causes of memory
loss and confusion by thyroid disorders or vitamin deficiencies. To show the change of the brain
