EXPLORE
Day 1

LEARNING COMPETENCIES:
a. explain how the respiratory and circulatory systems work together to transport nutrients, gases, and other molecules to and from the different parts
of the body
b. infer how one’s lifestyle can affect the functioning of the respiratory and circulatory systems

LEARNING TARGETS:
1. I can explain the exchange of gases in the respiratory system.
2. I can discuss the causes, symptoms and treatments in some respiratory problems.

DAILY ROUTINE (5 minutes)

REVIEW OF THE PREVIOUS LESSON

The teacher will ask the following questions:
1. What are the functions of the circulatory system?
2. How does the blood flow through the heart?
3. How can we prevent and treat circulatory problems?

CHECKING OF ASSIGNMENT
The teacher will check if the students have the drawing of the respiratory system with its labels.

ACTIVATING PRIOR KNOWLEDGE: Mind Pick (5 minutes)

Ask the students to take a deep breath and hold it for as long as they can. After a couple of minutes, everyone will be grasping for breath. Ask them why
we could not go of more than a couple of minutes without air. We can go days without food and water.

PROCESS QUESTION:
 What happened to you after you did the activity?
 What is the reason behind that task?
 Why can’t we live without air for even a couple of minutes?
FIRM-UP

VIDEO CLIP (3:52 minutes)

PROCESS QUESTIONS:
1. Which is smaller the left or the right lung? Why?
2. How many lobes in the left and right lung?
3. What are the respiratory gases that are being exchanged?
4. What are the parts of the respiratory system? How about their function?

DISCUSSION: (40 minutes)

ASSIGNMENT:
1. What is respiration?
2. What are the daily activities that need respiratory apparatus?
Day 2

LEARNING TARGETS:
a. I can explain the respiration process.
b. I can locate the parts of the respiratory system.

DAILY ROUTINE (5 minutes)

REVIEW OF THE PREVIOUS LESSON

The teacher will ask the following questions:
1. What is Respiratory system?
2. How does the respiratory system function?

CHECKING OF ASSIGNMENT
The teacher will check and give equivalent points for the assignment of the students.

ACTIVITY: (10 minutes)

DISCUSSION: GENYO video and activity (45 minutes)

PROCESS QUESTIONS:
What is respiration process?
Can you explain and demonstrate the activities that need respiratory apparatus?

CLOSURE: IRF Chart

INITIAL REVISED FINAL

ASSIGNMENT:
1. What are the problems of the respiratory system?
2. What are the daily activities that need respiratory apparatus?

Day 3

LEARNING TARGETS:
a. I can explain the respiratory problems; its causes, symptoms and treatments.
b. I can state ways on how to take care the respiratory system.
c. I can answer the formative assessment 75% correctly.

DAILY ROUTINE (5 minutes)

REVIEW OF THE PREVIOUS LESSON
The teacher will ask the following questions:
1. Which part can we find the trachea?
2. How about epiglottis?
3. Where does the exchange of gases occur?

CHECKING OF ASSIGNMENT
The teacher will check and give equivalent points for the assignment of the students.

Genyo video (10 minutes) Inhale! Exhale

DISCUSSION: (35 minutes)

PICTURE ANALYSIS: The students will be grouped into eight. Each group will explain the respiratory problem assigned to them through the use of the pictures.
FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT (10 minutes)

CLOSURE: One Minute-Prompt

Among those respiratory problems, the one which I think most severe is _______________________________ because _________________________________
__________________________________________________________________________________________. I can prevent this by means of _______________
__________________________________________________________________________________________________.

ASSIGNMENT: Review everything that we discussed about the respiratory system and be ready for our quiz next meeting.
