Activities (30 MINUTES)

Activity #1: Jump In, Jump Out

● Play jump in, jump out to get to know my other grade one students. Tell them that I
played this with my other class already.

This will take 5-10 minutes.

Activity #2: ‘I See’

● Play I See with the students for approximately 5 minutes.

○ I See:
■ Airplanes flying through the sky
■ Bunny rabbits jumping through the field
■ Boys and girls playing in the snow
■ Snakes slithering through tall grass
■ Angry gorillas walking through the jungle
■ Deers trotting through the forest
■ Elephants bathing in the water
■ Fish swimming through the sea
■ Monkeys swinging in the trees
■ Boys and girls sitting down in the circle quietly

Activity #3: Cross The River

● Explain the game
- “For this game, everyone will line up on the sides of the gym. Do we go into the
orange? NO. Good so everyone will need to be outside the orange line but not
in the thick orange.”
- “One person, who I will choose, will start in the middle of the gym. On my
signal, everyone on the outside will have to run across the river. We are
running straight across to the other side of the gym, nowhere else.”
- “The person in the middle is the tagger, or also known as the lockness
monster! They will try and tag as many people as they can as everyone runs
across the river. If you get tagged, you join them and also become a tagger.”
- “Everyone understand? Give me thumbs up if you’re good to go”

● Pick a student to be it.

Play this for about 5 minutes

Activity #4: Turtle Tag

● Explain the game

- “This game is a tag game. We will start with two taggers. If you get tagged, you
lay down on the floor with your legs and hands up, like a knocked over turtle.
(Demonstrate what this looks like). The only way to get back in the game is if
another student’s comes over and helps you back up!”
- “The twist to this game is to avoid being tagged, you can get on the ground and
form a ball (Demonstrate what this looks like), and that is the turtle’s safety
position. When you are in this position you CANNOT be tagged. However, you
can only stay in this position for 5 SECONDS and then you have to get up and
run around again”
- “We will switch taggers every 3 MINUTES.

Play this for about 5- 10 minutes (gives time for 2-3 different pairs of taggers) depending how
much time is left over.

Leave two minutes at the end to have the kids line up at the door, and allow them time to get
water and their health stuff.
