Reflection task 3:

Literacy strategies
Choose 3 best practices you observed during your time in school. Reflect on these and consider why you
would implement these in a UAE primary classroom in the future. Explain how these practices will affect
student learning and reading levels in a primary class.

The best three practices that I choose are:

1. Classroom environment.
2. Reading strategies and approaches.
3. Writing activities.

Classroom environment:

- Classroom environment is a very important part of student learning process. Because the students are
in the same place for a whole year. So as teachers we have to make sure that she organizes and put
educational things around the classroom that have a rich print concept. Because, some students in the
classroom are visual learner they learn when they see things. By this way it will help them memories
important information. Finally, the classroom environment has a very big part of the students learning
development. Teachers should be wise when they choose what they will put in it.

Reading strategies and approaches:

- Reading strategies are important to implement in the classroom to develop students reading skills. One
of the reading strategies that I saw is guided reading. It is very important to implement this reading
strategy because it allows the teacher to spent more focused time with students. I believe when the
teacher spent some time with the students it will give her a chance to help them develop. The other
strategy is silent reading. I think it is very important to implement this strategy because it will give the
students a chance to make self-reflection on themselves. It is important to give the students a chance
and time to reflect on themselves. This process keeps students in task and promote engagement and
self-motivation. (Quinn, 2017)
Writing activities:

- Implementing different writing activities in the classroom is very important for develop students writing
skills. Students must have a certain writing level depends on their grade level. So, by implementing
different writing activities it will develop the student. Furthermore, writing activities can give the
students opportunity to learn how to organize ideas, develop points logically and elaborate ideas.
Furthermore, writing can help the students with their emotions. Sometimes students have hard time
expressing what they feel about different things. Moreover, writing activities can help the students
connect to the world around them. (Walker, 2012)
