4. MEASUREMENT FOR PAYMENT

4.1 The following shall apply to the measurement of and payment for the
piling work:

(a) The value of the piling work (and related work if any) shall
be ascertained by remeasurement of the work as it is actually
,executed and valuation of the work with the prices or rates
of the Contractor in the bill of quantities submitted by him
(after the prices or rates therein have been adjusted if
necessary as by the Instructions to Tenderers or Conditions
of Tendering provided).

(5) If the value of the piling work (and related work if any)
ascertained in accordance with Clause 4.1 (a), is greater than
the amount for the same in the bill of quantities submitted
* by the Contractor (after the prices or rates therein have been -
adjusted if necessary as by the Instructions to Tenderers or
Conditions of Tendering provided), the amount to be paid to
the Contractor in respect of the piling work (and related work
if any) shail be the sum of the amount for the same in the bill
of quantities submitted by the Contractor and half of the
difference betdeen the same and the value of the work
ascertained in accordance with Clause 4.1 (a).

(cl If the value of the piling work (and related work if any)
ascertained in accordance with Clause 4.1 (a), is less than
the amount for the same-work in the bill of quantities
submitted by the Contractor (after the prices or rates therein

the site and provide labour and facilities to enable the S.O. to
inspect and measure each piece at the time of unloading. Accepted
piles shall be stacked on an approved area and kept constantly in
a wet condition. Rejected piles shall be promptly removed frcm the
site.

1l.d Lena%h of Piles

The length of a pile shall be taken to mean the overal 1 length

measured from the tip of the shce to the top of the head. The length
of piles to be driven shall be as shown in the drawings. Sased on
the results of pile driving resistance and/or load tests carried out
on piles driven on the site, the S.O. may from time to time order
the Tengths of piles to be modified.

11.5 Pitchina and Drivina Piles

11.5.4. Drivjna Sequence

Piles shall be driven in an approved sequence to minimise

thedetrimental effectsofheave and lateral displacement
of the ground. When required, levels and measurements
shall be ta;<en to determine the movement of the ground
or the rising of any pile resulting from the driving
process. If any pile rise occurs as a result of adjacent
piles being driven, the Contractor shall submit to the
S.C. for approval his proposals for correcting and
avoiding the same in subsequent work.
