Type of lesson : Teaching
Topic : The Modal Verbs
Aims :
- To speak about travelling using modal verbs;
- To ask questions on personal interest;
- To express their desires concerning food,drink etc.

Teaching aids and materials : laptop, world map worksheets,video projector;

3.Procedure:

WARM -UP T shows SS a world T-SS 3’
map and asks them
about the last place
they visited.
A SS listen to two short SS-T 4’
conversations about
travelling.
SS answer to the
following questions:
1.a.- Did Trench
enjoy the food?
b.- Hpw was the
weather there?
2.a- Where does he
want to travel on
Christmas?
b- How many months
PRESENTATION

are left until


Christmas?
B SS receive the script Individual 3’
of the conversations
(worksheet 1) and
they have to underline
the modals verbs.
CONTROLLED SS receive worksheet Individual 4’
PRACTICE 2 and they have to
choose the correct
answer.

SEMI- SS receive four Pairs 4’


CONTROLLED worksheets to
PRACTICE complete with the
right modal verb.
FREE Ss are given a context Groups of four 12’
PRACTICE (visiting a travel
agent,buying a plane
ticket, shopping for
souvenirs, ordering
food and drink) and
they have to talk about
them with their
collegues.
T explains them that
these situations can
occur in real life and
that is why the activity
is so important for
them.
