Qualifications

In December of 2018, I received my master’s degree in counseling from Wake Forest

University, with a specialization in school counseling. I am a licensed as a professional school
counselor by the state of Virginia and have been employed with Loudoun County Public Schools
for approximately one year.

Counseling Background

It has been my privilege as well as responsibility to provide students with emotional,

social, and academic support as needed throughout their development. Much of my time spent
working with students involves techniques of solution-focused therapy such as using questioning
to elicit information and foster confidence in the child. Incorporated approaches into much of
these solution-focused goals is person-centered as well as cognitive-behavioral depending on the
child and their situation.

In addition to individual counseling, I also offer group counseling in addition to taking

part in classroom guidance lessons. I have a wide range of experience with groups, from
working with students on study skills, to social skills, to a group designed for students
identifying as LGBTQ. A few topics of classroom guidance include anti-bullying, sexual
harassment, career and college readiness, preparing for high school, and goal-setting.

Session Fees and Length of Services

“Sessions” with students are generally short, lasting under 30 minutes in most
circumstances. There are no fees associated with seeking my services.

Confidentiality

It is very important that students know that my office is a safe space for them to speak
openly and honestly. That said, it is also important that they recognize the limitations of
confidentiality. This includes discovery of the student harming themselves or others, threats to
harm self or others, or if somebody is harming the student. Also, in rare instances there might be
a court ordered subpoena deeming it necessary to release certain information. Parents are also
entitled to know what their child is discussing in counseling, if they do so inquire. If they do,
best efforts will be made to work with the student to find a comfortable way of sharing sensitive
information with their parents while respecting parental rights as well as making the child feel
safe.

Complaints

If ever it is felt that it would be appropriate to file a complaint about me, please reach out
to Elizabeth Diamond, my current supervisor, at ediamond@lcps.org or reach her by phone at
(571) 252-2140.

We agree to these terms and will abide by their guidelines.
