Playing a major scale on a minor chord (E major over Emin7) and adding the b9 note as well : so on
Emin7, you have the major 3rd (G#) AND the b9th which is F... sounds weird but Al makes it sound
quite cool and it's definitely one of his signature sounds... one other way of doing it is to play a
minor melodic scale on a major chord : on EM7 you play E minor melodic which means you play the
G (minor 3rd) insted of G# (major third), but it also works great and sounds quite outside provided
you use the minor third as passing tone and do not dwell on it too long !
