The Identity of the UPS Professional Regarding

Professional, Family and Social Sense of the Profession

Since we began to become aware we know that we have a function within

the social circle. Today we are experiencing accelerated changes, when we choose the electrical

engineering career is remarkable that we must apply electricity, electronics and electromagnetism,

also have knowledge of physics and mathematics, to design systems and equipment to generate,

transport, distribute and use the electric energy.

But given the importance on the subject of identity of the profession at the Salesian Polytechnic

University, questions are asked: What is our professional identity? How do you get involved with

the family? What relates the profession to the social? The same ones that lead us to do an

investigation and get to know and interpret.

The electrical engineer is one of the most important professions in the

country, over the course of all these years of study we have learned what the career entails, so

when we talk about the identity of the profession we are saying that it is a fundamental feature in

every process of our training, is able to generate a sense of belonging, clarity in the procedures and

objectives, a position defined with respect to other disciplines and in front of society. On the other

hand, it is to recognize ourselves as members of a professional guild, being able to influence and

determine the roles assumed in a work environment. That is why, if there is no clear or defined

identity, it could generate confusion in the performance of functions that are carried out in practice,

which in turn could be a decommitment of the profession. For us personally in our electrical

engineering career it makes us more responsible because we are going to implement a system of

regulations for dielectric shoes where we will measure the resistivity of dielectric shoes against

rupture voltages in a dry and damp environment with oil waste, from the point of view, we are not

only thinking of ourselves but also of our surroundings due to the comfort that today demands.

By involving the family, we are saying that it has not been easy for them or for us, going to reality

it is very complex to leave our home where we are protected, but in the end it has a very satisfactory

result since it makes us independent and very mature, making the best decisions for our

professional life. The family has always been watching us since we took our first steps in school,

at school and at university, and it is the only one that has trusted and continue to do so to this day,

despite the circumstances that we have gone through, but in the same way they have accompanied

us throughout the whole race, they are the ones who expect the best results and not be disappointed.

In relation to our profession and the social is a subject that is not very clear because it is an

entrepreneurial and permanent process that is not done once and for all, there are many elements

that interact and impact on its construction. It is because our perspective seeks to favor the

development of human bonds and promote social changes for the well-being of people, so that we

act for the interactions of individuals in the environment. The purpose of this relationship is that

each one of us can develop in the best way with the profession and achieve changes.

In conclusion, when we make the decision to choose a career as an electrical

engineering we know that it will not be easy to achieve, because it is a very difficult path, but if

we insist we will learn otherwise and grow more as professionals. All this also implies that we

have to be very responsible and pay close attention, first of all, with the only importance that if

there are no difficulties in the end it will help us to grow in our profession and we would also

achieve the changes posed before society, with that then we will be very supportive of our family

because it is always a fundamental pillar.
