The Jays are coming off an 11-13 season, but second-year head coach
Mark Anderson is excited about the 2018- 19 campaign and likes the
depth and chemistry of this year’s team. The Jays return several key
players from last year’s squad, including seniors Ryan Brooks, Levi
Jobe, and Hudson Nilges, juniors Ben Folz and Brennan Jeffries, and
sophomore Sterling DeSha. Jeff City is also expecting contributions
from transfer senior Michael Appiah-Brefo, as well as juniors Brenden
Hoener, Kaidyn Johnson, and Rayvon Webster.

Helias Catholic is coming off of a 17-10 District Runner-Up season in
2017-2018. While it was not the end result they had hoped for, it was
a season that led to a Springfield Catholic tournament championship
and a couple of solid win streaks. The Crusaders will return 6 players
who saw significant time at the Varsity level, including one double
figure scorer and two that were just outside of double figures. Ben
Cooper, a Truman State commit, is the lone double digit scorer
returning after finishing at 11 ppg. Nick Brandt (9.2ppg), Marcus
Anthony (7.2 ppg), and Xavier Sykes (6.4 ppg) return with valuable
experience from a season ago. Jake VanLoo and Colby LeCuru also
look to be key pieces in this years success, building upon last year’s
experience and a great offseason. First year Head Coach and long
time Helias Assistant Coach, Joe Rothweiler, is excited about the
nucleus of experienced players returning for the 2018-2019 season.

Blair Oaks Falcons
Wardsville, MO
Head Coach: Ryan Fick
The Blair Oaks Falcons are returning to the Joe Machens Great 8
Classic after stepping away for the past six years. The Falcons are
coming off a successful 2017-2018 season, in which they compiled a
record of 20-6. They finished 7-0 in conference play and were the
champions of the Tri-County Conference. The Blair Oaks basketball
program has continued to be a staple of success over the years. Last
season marked the 23rd straight winning season for the program.
The Falcons will be led by seven seniors, featuring returning starters
Nolan Hair, Trent Martin and Braydan Pritchett. Other seniors include
Corban Bonnett, Cameron Hardwick, Dru Rackers and Webb Villmer.
Martin averaged 10.5 ppg last season, Martin also set the single
season school record for threepoint shooting percentage at 43%. Also
featured for the Falcons is junior, Eric Northweather. As a
sophomore, Northweather averaged 13.9 ppg and pulled down just
over eight rebounds per contest. Junior guard, David Dell will also be
expected to contribute quality minutes this season for the Falcons.
Blair Oaks is located just south of Jefferson City, MO. They are a
member of Class 3 and participate in the Tri-County Conference.

Avonti Duncan – Adrain, Urbana
CJ Anthony was first team All Ohio, 2020 top ten in the State.
Overall record 2017-2018 – 28-1. League champion, District champion,
Regional champion, state final four/ ranked #1 in state.
Hopkinsville Tigers
Hopkinsville, KY
Head Coach: Larry Miller
Coach Miller (first year at Hopkinsville) leads a team who finished 12-
13 last year. While the inexperienced last year, the team looks to
improve greatly this season being led by several talented players.
James Nicholas is a division one caliber guard and All-State candidate.
Nicholas has several D1 schools including, Virginia Military Institute
and Kentucky Wesleyan inquiring about him. Tefrell Toliver is being
recruited by Kentucky Wesleyan, while Jamarion Sharp is being
recruited by several junior colleges. Others players receiving college
interest include D’Evan Williams and Jacarius Burks. Hopkinsville has
competed regularly in the Kentucky (one classification) state
tournament, making the final 16, five of the previous seven years.

Father Tolton Catholic Trailblazers
Columbia, MO
Head Coach: Jeremy Osborne
The Trailblazers return four of five starters and eight total
letterwinners from last year’s 14-14 team, which won its 3rd District
title in the last 4 years. The ‘blazers lost to eventual 4th place finisher
Mountain Grove in Sectionals. Also returning is Class 3 All-State
selection Senior, Beau Washer (undecided) averaging nearly 16
points and 6 rebounds per game last season. As well as Juniors,
Coban Porter (11.1ppg), Chase Martin, and Nate Schwartze. The team
is coming back with great experience and looking to build off of last
years post-season success.
Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils
Pittsburgh, PA
Head Coach: David Joseph
Last year was another thrilling season for the Mt. Lebanon Boys Basketball
Team. The Blue Devils posted a 20 win season against 5 loses. Mt. Lebanon
enjoyed a holiday trip to Dallas, Texas and had a strong showing against
teams from Texas and Oklahoma at Bryon Nelson High School. The team
qualified for the WPIAL Playoffs for the 16th time in the last 17 years and
secured Back to Back Section Championships after posting an 11-1 section
record. Mt. Lebanon qualified for the WPIAL playoffs and was seeded #1.
They advanced to the WPIAL semifinals after beating Latrobe in the
quarterfinals 89-52. The Blue Devils lost in overtime in the WPIAL semifinals
to the eventual WPIAL champion Penn Hills. Mt. Lebanon qualified for the
PIAA state playoffs and lost to city champion Allderdice in the first round. Blue
Devil fans will remember this team for their exciting and relentless style of
play. Mt. Lebanon was led by seniors Caden Hinckley, Brice Miller and Antonio
Garofoli, and juniors Hayden Mitchell and Mike Palmer.
Kettering Fairmont Firebirds
Arlington, OH
Head Coach: Blair Albright
Fairmont returns five letter winners from last year’s squad that finished as
Sectional Champions and District Runners-up with a record of 16-6. Among
those returning are Ryan Hall and Kellan Bochenek, both All-Conference/All-
District, Both are being recruited by colleges at all levels and will be leaned on
heavily to lead the Firebirds. The ultimate success of the team will be
dependent upon the development and performances of players that are
either new to the Varsity level or are stepping into much larger roles this
season. DaShawn Brown, Andre O’Daniel and Chris Thompson are among
those who will be counted on to make a big leap in production from a year
ago. Jesse Reliford has come back to the team after focusing on baseball last
season, and is a great addition. Kaleb Hall leads a group of JV players from last
season and newcomers to the program that will have opportunities to
contribute. Fairmont competes in one of the best conferences in Ohio and
routinely plays opponents that are traditionally in the top 25 in the state.
