Participatory Environmental developmental Program (PEDP) is a Non-
Governmental Organization (NGO) working for Rights of Children, Peace,
Human Rights, AIDS/HIV Training, Health and Disaster Relief. The
Organization was registered in January 2003.
PEDP is also registered with the International Code of Conduct
Netherlands.

Swiss Government initiating to facilitate the government of Pakistan in


Reconstruction and in livelihood program. SDC providing technical support to
the Housing Reconstruction Program and having reconstruction centers in
Balakot and Battagram it is called Housing Reconstruction Center (HRC)
having capacity building program and information about reconstruction and
ERRA policies. HRC is building capacity of NGOs (CARE, French Red Crescent,
Belgium Red Crescent, BEST, Shelter for Life and some other international
and local organizations which are in reconstruction program. Major
responsibilities:

Monitoring of PO activities:
• Develop and maintain close links with all POs of the area
covered by the HRC.
• Ensure a good coordination of all POs and promote direct
exchanges among POs, by organizing mutual visits.
• Support POs with regard to ERRA related issues (information on
hubs and availability of construction material, tenant issues,
etc.).

• Monitor the field activities of the POs and their Mobile/Outreach
Teams.
• Develop and maintain a close collaboration with the Assessment
and Inspection (AI) teams and ensure their regular training along
HRC guidelines.
• Monitor and coach the social mobilizer to ensure an effective
functioning of the Village Reconstruction Committees (VRCs).

Pakistan Community Development Program (Pak.CDP Community


Development Officer January 1999 to January 2003 Pakistan Community
Development Program (Pak. CDP) is Non-Governmental formerly known as
Austrian Relief Committee (ARC). Its scope of work is NWFP both with local
people of NWFP and Afghan Refugees. Pak. CDP core of work is Sanitation,
Water supply, Health Education and Women in Development.

I was responsible for the project of Community Infrastructure Project (CIP) in
Peshawar, which is a demand driven community based project. This project
was a venture of the World Bank, Swiss Development Corporation and Local
Government and Rural Development Dept. of NWFP. Through my
coordination this was the first time Community Infrastructure Project (CIP),
TMAs and NGOs came together as a team. The main focus of the program is
to organize and train the communities to develop their own capacity to solve
their own problems by encouraging community involvement and participation
in planning, designing, implementing, monitoring, operating and maintaining
of all developmental works.

The key component of the project was Water Supply, Sanitation, Roads &
Retaining Walls, Waste Water Treatment, Solid Waste Management, Health &
Hygiene Education, Child Care, Women In Development and Cottage Industry.

The project involved extensive training, planning and management through


community participation, which included workshops, training seminars and
site visits.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Prepare Community Action plan (CAP) for CCBs and CBOs.
• Conduct training of CCBs/CBOs for Community Action plan (CAP).
• Organizing Community Based Organizations (CBOs) of District
Peshawar (four pilot sites in urban area) & one pilot site in District
Nowshera.
• Responsible for identification of sub committees with in the
communities like health, education, operation & maintenance and
women development committees.
