Journal 1

30 of September 2018 - Sunday, was my first day in my teaching practice. I was in Al Darari

Kindergarten. In the first day, I went to Kg2/5 classroom. There are 23 students, two

teachers: English and Arabic and one assistance for the special need students. The English

teacher teach the students 1-2 hour a day. So, because I should teach English I went to my

MST Ms. Eman. She introduced me to the students. After that, I set with her to show her the

booklet so she can know how many time should I teach and when to observe me. I asked her

to show me the curriculum and the weekly plans so I can be ready to teach.

The day after, I set with students so they can get used to me. What I did with them was

morning circle. The theme was about human and animals so, I asked them if they went to zoo

and what they saw there. I tried to spend with them more time so I stayed with the Arabic

teacher since the English teacher only stay form 1-2 hours a day.

At Thursday, 2nd of October, My MCT Ms Liz and Ms. Nadia came to observe me. The

lesson was about identifying color and animals. The lesson didn’t go well, there were some

transition issues and the lesson plan wasn’t that good. As my MCT feedback, she said that, I

need to use different transition strategy for the activities. What went well was, tidy up

strategy and that I let students choose the activities independently. Next time, I have to focus

on making the LP more detailed, use different transition activities and to use positive

reinforcement.
On Wednesday, I taught them about animals after break time. I tried to follow up my MCT

instructions so I can improve my teaching strategies. I start using the groups color to manage

them during the activities. After teaching them, we went together to the library to read a

story. In the library, students choose a story to take it to home to read it and after choosing

stories, they sit in the chairs and one students come in front of them to read a story. When

they finished, they went to the class to take their bags and they went home. After that, I went

to set with my MST to discuss with her about the lesson and the activities that I will do. Also,

I showed her some of my work to see if it suitable or not.
