Learning Style Inventory

After completing the Cognitive Processing Inventory (CPI) and the on-line Functional

Behavioral Assessment (FBA) Profiler I received results with very helpful information. The data

from the results will be very useful for improving my teaching skills and learning new tools. The

data from the CPI report showed I had no concern in most areas of interpretation. I was presented

with helpful recommendations to improve my performance. The CPI report provided me with a

set of reading recommendations. These recommendations can definitely be used in the classroom

to provide support for students.

When working on reading assignments I will inform students to read summary or review

questions first. This will help establish the big picture and the message of the material. When the

students read the details will make more sense. My student will also be instructed to skim

through each paragraph looking for the topic sentence. There is normally one sentence per

paragraph which describes the idea of the whole paragraph. Finding this sentence will help the

student understand the text. I can use the topic sentence tool myself when reading students

writings to understand what they are attempting to convey.

Upon completing the FBA Profiler online report, I received positive feedback. The first

section of results is Target Behavior. Target behaviors are specific and observable areas of

behavioral concern which can be identified for possible intervention. Based on my results no

significant target behaviors were identified. The second section of results is Functions of

Behavior.

According to the test, hypothesized functions of behavior are assumed underlying

emotional needs or motivations which may result in certain predictable behavioral tendencies.

Based upon my results no hypothesized functions were identified. The third result section was

Mental Health Screen. The mental health screening is based upon current DSM criteria and is

intended to help clarify or identify areas of potential mental health concern. Based on my results

no significant mental health concerns are suggested.

My student had similar results under the FBA profiler. No Target behavior was found for

the student. For functions of behavior no underlying emotional needs or motivations were

identified which would cause behaviors. Finally, the mental health screen showed no significant

mental health concerns. These tests are very useful for gathering information on a student or

teacher and looking for areas of improvement.
