In this article it is explained that The Great Gatsby is a novel written in the 1920’s which

was the era of the Jazz age. Nick Carraway is the narrator of The Great Gatsby who is

also the cousin and neighbor of Jay Gatsby. Gatsby has gained wealth through criminal

activities. Gatsby is in love with Tom Buchanan's wife Daisy. They were lovers when

Gatsby was serving in World War I. Long after Gatsby and Daisy end up becoming

lovers again, I find this useful because it provides detailed background information on the

novel of The Great Gatsby and history in the 1920s.
