Proposal
Title of production: POP

Concept: A little balloon that was created in a small village in France is

given as a gift to a little girl before being let go and floating into war torn
country’s and thus learning the problems of the world such as war, famine
and poverty. The balloon then tries to fix problems however finds that
whenever it fixes breaks even worse and so gives up and decides to run in
an attempt to escape from the problems.

Why are you producing this production?

I am producing this production as I want to create an animation and I
think going into a semi-realistic topic about the state of the world and how
an outsider that is new to the world could possibly view the chaos. I wish
for this production to inform more people about the problems around the
world without doing it in a way that would bore people as I will be using
real locations as inspiration for the situations, I wish to show that while the
world is now at its most peaceful time the world is not perfect and can
never be perfect, no matter how far the world progresses.

Deadline: The deadline for my production is the 18th January

Target audience is:

My target audience for this production is 25-40 year olds.

What they want to see:

People in my age group said that they wanted to see a production that
was more realistic than pure 2D animation however they also wanted to
have something that was more relatable as they are the age group that
spends the most amount of time on the internet watching videos, and
uses smartphones more than any other age bracket bar teenagers and
young adults. There is also a 50/50 split for people who like story driven

animations and those who don’t. They did say they wanted a heavy
character presence in my production and multiple characters to convey
my message
What you are creating based from that research: I am going to be
creating a heavily tech driven production bringing themes from my
original idea like warfare and poverty and bringing them into a more tech
based setting for example when it comes to warfare I will have drones
and ground based unmanned vehicles, I will do this to show the
destruction that technology can cause when used indiscriminately and
that the middle eastern countries would be the main target for this as wars
are constantly being fought over there. I will also show the contrast of rich
and poor by using technology such as smart phones to show this. I will also
be able to suggest a world of the future by having AI replacing people in
France and due to France’s history of uprising I feel like they’d be the first
to revolt, this can link into my themes of the world being a place that has
underlying problems as I can use this to show mass unemployment in 1st
world countries. I will also have a heavy focus on the balloon I will
personify it to create a more understandable character and I will
embellish the characters that it meets along the way such as the little girl
who gets it in the beginning will treat it as a friend, a human solider will
treat it like a balloon and a drone will treat it as if it was hostile.
Where the production will be aired (why – based on target audience)
My production will be aired on YouTube and shared via Facebook and
Twitter this is because my target audience spends the most amount of
time on the internet and the most popular social media sites for my target
audience is Facebook and Twitter Therefore I will be airing it on YouTube
because it is most appropriate for my target audience, this does however
mean my production would
have to be short enough to
encourage people to watch it
or have an intriguing enough
beginning to hook my target
audience.
