CURRENT PRIORITY PROGRAMS OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT OF TABUK

The current priority programs of the city government of Tabuk are aligned with Mayor
Ferdinand B. Tubban’s vision of a city who can be at par with other cities where self-
sufficiency and service delivery are concerned:
(1) Agro-Eco Tourism – one of the flagship programs of the present administration.
This is a trendy blending of the tourism value of Ecology and Mother Nature
coupled with the rich agricultural lands of Tabuk.
(2) Economic shapelift of the city – attention is given to entrepreneurial ventures by
encouraging new businessmen to launch their own enterprises, ranging from
small to medium size, through the provision of soft loans.
(3) Cultural preservation and promotion – the city gov’t recognizes the value of
culture, by highlighting and promoting the practice of good traditions, not only in
the Kalinga culture but also with the other cultural groups in the city. The city is
largely a melting pot of various ethnic groups and the city would like to gather
them all as supporters to greater development efforts.
(4) Peace and Order – the city upholds its identity as a peace zone or Matagoan
zone. It has invested quite well in the cultivation of better relations by giving
ample funds to the Cultural Affairs Office (CAO) especially in the resolution of
conflicts among different tribes.
(5) Public Safety – recently, the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) has been
upgraded particularly as to its number of personnel who are deployed around the
city to ease the flow of traffic as well as to directly monitor the inflow of possible
contrabands as well as safeguarding the welfare of the riding public.
