Acknowledgement

I would like to thank my lecturer, Ms. Rizawati Binti Rozihan for guising us and teaching us
how to operate this amazing software. She really helped us break down this difficult software
into very simple ways to make animations. It was fun working on the software and having Ms.
Rizawati as lecturer kept the class very lively and entertaining.

This assignment has helped me learn more about designing concepts and how to make use of
adobe products in this case animate cc. At first it was very hard to catch up and understand
how to use the software to create animations however from the numerous tutorials we have
had, the final design was not that hard and complex to make.

This assignment will help me greatly in the future as the same E-resume can be used to apply
for any future position in the world of Engineering.

I would also like to thank my family for sending me to Malaysia for my higher studies and for
their constant support and my classmates for always willing to help when required.

Thank you.

Introduction

People must work to earn a living and nowadays with the fast evolution of the world, only
selected members are given the privilege to work in huge companies. A proper well-balanced
Resume is required to be selected among thousands of people requesting for jobs in a daily
basis. Nowadays, Resumes are no longer typed black on white on a piece of paper, it is rather
made into a video animation to impress the interviewer better and to easily show your skills in
terms of animation. Resumes were introduced in the years 1982, where Leonardo is the first
person who ever recorded a resume for himself. The word Resume comes from a French work
that means summary, meaning that a resume is a summary of an individual presented to
employers to get a job.
E-resumes contain details about the individual such as personal information, contact page,
Education Page, Achievements and Skills, as well as work experience and hobbies among
many more that can be included to make it more powerful. E-resumes are sophisticated ways
of displaying one’s personal skills and education in an animated way. E-resumes, short for
electronic resumes, requires more time and effort to prepare compared to the old standard black
and white resumes on paper. They provide an interface that allows the employer to select only
the specific details he wants to access in a friendlier and more colourful as well as animated
way.
E-resumes were introduced with the help of Multimedia applications such as in this case,
Adobe animate cc. Multimedia is one or more concurrent presentations mediums merged
together. It is usually a combination of text, sound, and motion video or animated images.
Multimedia can be compared to traditional motion pictures by their scale of production, where
multimedia is usually smaller and more expensive. Multimedia elements can also include
voice command, mouse manipulation, text, touch screen effects, video and presentation
capture both live and out radio.

Adobe Animate CC is the new name for Flash Professional which was the most used software
for creating animations. Due to the rise of HTML5, Flash Professional became a weak tool.
Animate CC will continue supporting Flash (SWF) and AIR formats as first-class citizens. In
addition, it can output animations to virtually any format (including SVG), through its
extensible architecture.

Objective

 Developing students’ practical ability to create and develop a multimedia animation.

 To get introduced to multimedia animation
 To enable Engineering students, express their design and creativity for the creating of
animated resumes.
 To convert the traditional resume to more attractive medium.
 Self-presentation in an electronic way

 To impress employers with an electronic resume.

Target User Background and their requirements

Resumes are required for companies and employers to cross check their needs to our resumes
to validate whether we are fit or not for the job. Curriculum-vitae, CV is very important
nowadays specially for young graduates and people hunting for jobs. It includes all the basic
information about self as well as the education, past working experience, achievements, skills
and hobbies among others. This document is to be presented to companies and employers pre
or during interviews. The employer will then judge whether the candidate is legit for the
company. The best CV are usually those which captivates people’s eyes and focus easily.
However, because creating the perfect CV for the intended company, one need to analyse the
target audience, that is, carry an employer and company background.

For my E-resume:

 Company name: HRL Laboratories, LLC, Malibu, CA

 Position: Engineer Prototyping Specialist
 Company Background source: http://www.hrl.com/about/board

Media Design Guidelines

Table 3.0. Design guidelines

Guidelines Explanation

Affordance This guideline is used to control the design of the element. For
example, click action, slide action, push action, etc.
Example: The play button is designed in such a way that the user
can easily identify the button.

Visibility The visibility guideline makes sure that all the buttons are placed in
the correct manner easily identified on the screen. The buttons
should be clear and big enough as well.

Feedback Feedback is whatever acknowledgment given by the system to the

user to confirm that action he requested has been completed. For
example, the sound given when a button is pressed on the system.
Functions are usually: button mouse over-animation or button click-
sound effect.
Consistency All buttons in the project are consistency and standards. The user should
not get confused with icons changing from scenes to scene. The same
icon for a purpose should be used throughout the system to enable
consistency. Font size, colour, icon sizes as well should be consistent
throughout.
Iconic Iconic metaphor is the use of images related to out daily life and to
metaphor design them on icons. This enables user to easily identify the icon
and its purpose.
For example. A home symbol is used to return to the homepage and
iconic metaphor here shows our home as a home page symbol.
Another example is the exit button, where the iconic metaphor used
is a door and a person going out.

Conclusion

As a conclusion, this report reflects the objective mentioned at the beginning if this report.
After spending days to work on this system, I am proud of my final design. The software was
very complex and hard to use but I started understanding its functionality after multiple
tutorials performed by the lecturer in class.
I believe this E-resume could be used as a resume for a job application if given more time to
polish. This assignment really helps enrich my skills in multimedia fields and how to apply it
in daily life.
