Lesson Schedule
Targeted teacher questions to promote HOTS:
Student communication and use of math language: using their hand to solve multiplication problems
Engage (warm up, review prior knowledge): Time:
At the begin of the lesson I will ask the greet the student then I will ask them about what we did take last week
how did we do multiplication : we do it by skip counting I will have one example in the bored for review it then I
will tell them today that we are going to learn multiplication by arrays I will ask the student if they know what 5 min
arrays is. Then I will start to present my presentation. to explain the meaning of it.
Core (introduce and practice new concepts & procedures):
Frist I will explain the meaning of arrays for the students in the presentation. after I show them I will have an
example of the arrays I will show for the them where is the rows and column in the arrays.
Then we will have real life arrays I will show them picture of it also I will ask them to find arrays in the classroom. 15min
After that we will discuss how we can solve multiplication by arrays I will explain the first two then I will have
some student to do it in the board. (15min)
After I teach the student how we can solve it by arrays it’s time to practice it. Each group will have different
activity.
Close (wrap up, discussion, brief review activity or assessment):

The first group activity they will have a worksheet have an Arrays station they will through a dice and draw the
rectangular arrays from the number that will show in the dice and write it as a multiplication problem. They will
label them unit the page will full of it. They can use color to do it or pencil.
The second group they will have several questions about the arrays they will have the multiplication problem in
to make arrays with it they will have cotton pads and color to point the row and column of the problem. One
group will make it by: 2,5,10 the second group will make it by: 2,3,4,5,10 15min
The student’s groups will display in the board, so they can know which groups to go.

The third group will have to make arrays with mini circles they will have a multiplication problem in the paper
and they have to make it by the tool then they have to draw it in the paper.

Then after all the group finish, I will ask the students to share what they did to the person who is siting next you
they will have only like 1 minute . then we will play a game in the board. The student has to hear what she says
and choose the correct candy box https://www.education.com/game/candy-shop/ .
