Sheet Set Manager (ProjectWise Workflow) Sheet Set Manager “SSM” The Autodesk Sheet Set Manager is an invaluable tool used to facilitate the production of drawings for both large and small projects. its usage can range from a simple plotting aid to sophisticated uses such as fields for title blocks and automatic sheet renumbering and annotation. A default SSM template for the project was created by Joe Bouza of Cameron Engineering. We will go into how to use the SSM in conjunction with the default template in subsequent paragraphs. Initial Project Workflow The initial ProjectWise workflow was to have 2 SSM file (.dst) placed in each of the project deliverable folders. The SSM would contain a list of all drawings in the submittal with their title blocks annotated with respect to the package number. a roject Package Submittals ] | B Deion Paclage Plan OP “Gene Cover Steet 1 Pectage Sita Assembly stn: “Stet et Manager Pooh 1B rea 0 ay Wort Design Pacages thoy aren 0- Condor Wide Pacages (1B Area 1 - Area Wide Packages | Swanor030. |_| i 30% Suomital yyqomm-dd || | © comments 31¢ | comments ck 8106 || comments une | | | Design calcdatons | IF Docs | | — \| B QA- || a Pactage Cover Sheet Figure 1 ‘The SSM would be used to produce the Drawing List, Etransmit, and all PDF's. That was the original plan, We have encountered extreme latency issues between ProjectWise and the SSM. It takes too much time to do anything, especially if the SSM contains a large number of drawings. We have been in contact with Bentley over these issues ~ and until they can be resolved, we have devised a temporary workaround that minimizes most of the problems. We are also in the process of developing a methodology (Using ProjectWise functionality) that will mimic “most” of what the SSM can do, without the latency. We will uss the “temporary workaround “after we explain how to use SSM. Page lof 41 Populating the Title Block Fields The attributes displayed in the Project border are populated by inserting a Title Block into the border and populating the fields using SSM. Do not populate the fields by editing the attributes. The Title Block is located in file SSM-LIRR third track TEMPLATE(V2.2).dwt. The block name is gen-stn_ssm_title block (223 titles). Click on any of the fields in the block to bring it into focus. Copy it to the Clipboard and paste “to original coordinates” into any drawing layout. The block is “dynamic” giving you the choice of 1-3 titles. Gripping the title block displays an Autocad dynamic block grip that allows you to display the different visabilities that self center into the border. The three lines of the title are comprised of three fields that are detailed later in this document. They are. Line 1. the “subset” name; this has been designed to be the location name within every discipline. Line 2 & 3. Are designed to be the drawing name (Figure 7). SSM allows approximately 64 characters in a title field. The title block is designed to contain a maximum of +27 characters. Line three is designed for the overflow. In leiu of using line 3, If users are comfortable with dynamic blocks and the block editor, Line 2. Attribute can be edited to be a multiline attribute set to 6 units wide. This will facilitate line 2 titles greater than 27 characters Page 2 of 12 Once the Title Block has been inserted into the Layout we are ready to use the SSM. A generic SSM has been created and is located in PACKAGE NUMER HERE-V6.dst . Expanding the generic SSM reveals the following: Figure 3 ‘The Sheet set contains Subsets that correspond to the various project disciplines. if we expand the Civil Utilities Sub Set we get the following additional subsets: Figure 4 ‘The Subsets are the place holders where you will load the appropriate layouts. The Subsets, as laid out, also play a role in filling out the fields in the Title Block. Line 1 automatically becomes the subset name — which corresponds to the element location, To load a Sheet Layout into the Subset, simply “right click” ‘on the desired subset and choose “import layout as sheet”. Layouts can also be imported from an open drawing right clicking the tab(s) or even dragging and dropping layout tabs to a subset. (Figure 5). New drawings are created using the following template SSM-LIRR third track TEMPLATE(V2.2).dwt Page 3 of 12
