Introduction .
It is an electronic device which is used to calculate the distance from one point to
another or a proper display unit for measurment of distance, by using source such as
sound waves which are known as ultrasonic sensors and convert it for the various
measurement.
Components required
 Arduino

 LCD’s

 Connecting wires

 Breadboard

 Ultrasonic sensor module

 Battery

Circuit diagram
Construction and Working principle:
After the coding when input is given to Arduino i.e connected to computer
with USB cable or power it with a AC-DC battery to get started.
When sound waves are transmitted in the air then waves are return back to
it’s origin .so, we only have to calculate the traveling time of both sounds
means outgoing time and returning time to its origin. we calculate the
distance by using formula: distance = ( time* speed of sound in air)/2.

Applications:
 Distance Ranging Applications

 Machinery and processes in a wide range of industries use Tough

Sonic measurement sensors where size or position feedback is
required: printing, converting, robotics, material handling,
transportation and more. Here are just some of the ways they are used

Following are the advantages of Ultrasonic sensor:

➨It has sensing capability to sense all the material types.

➨This sensor is not affected due to atmospheric dust, rain, snow etc.

➨It can work in any adverse conditions.

➨It has higher sensing distance (in centimetres and inches) compare to
inductive/capacitive proximity sensor types.
➨It provides good readings in sensing large sized objects with hard surfaces.
Following are the disadvantages of Ultrasonic sensor:
➨It is very sensitive to variation in the temperature.
➨It has more difficulties in reading reflections from soft, curved, thin and
small objects

ERRORS :
 Ultrasonic sensor cannot measure distance less than 2 cm because of
multiple reflection of ultrasonic waves
 Also it cannot measure Long distance because of refraction of waves.

CONCLUSION:
 Hence, we found that the distance measurement by using ultrasonic
sensor and Arduino are expensive than the normal measuring tape.
 But it has more advantages comparatively to its disadvantages as it saves
the time and it is very easy to use for distance measurement.
