ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

ENVIRONMENTAL CLIMATIC CLASSES (International standard ISO 1992/2 and European standard EN 441)
CLIMATIC DRY BULB RELATIVE DEW POINT
CLASS TEMPERATURE HUMIDITY TEMPERATURE
1 16 oC 80 % 16 oC
2 22 oC 65 % 15 oC
3 25 oC 60 % 17 oC
4 30 oC 55 % 20 oC
5 40 oC 40 % 24 oC

These refrigerated cabinets are designed for specific environmental conditions in the room, which correspond to
Environmental Climatic Class 3 (as per standard ISO 1992 / 2)
CLASS 3 Room temperatur: + 25oC Relative humidity: R.H. 60%
In order to maintain the above environmental conditions, it will in many cases be necessary to install a specific air
conditioning system, as natural ventilation alone may not be enough to limit humidity, thus compromising the
troublefree operation of the refrigerated cabinet.
AIR CURRENTS
Air currents with speeds greater than 0.2 m/sec may compromise the troublefree operation of the refrigerated
cabinet. Cabinets should therefore not be installed near doorways or in particularly ventilated areas.
HEAT RADIATION
Sources of radiating heat, such as sunbeams, heaters or hot air ducts, non-insulated walls or roofs exposed to
sunbeams are considered harmful conditions to the troublefree operation of refrigerated cabinets.
IMPORTANT:
If the environmental conditions are not the ones indicated, lower performance is to be expected.

INSTALLATION (FIG. 1)
Receipt
Unpack the refrigerated cabinet upon receipt. Unpacking has to be carried out very carefully, as the packaging contains
items and/or accessories that are required for completing the appliance (shelves, grids, price tag holders, casings, etc.).

Check the cabinet and make sure that none of its parts has been damaged during transportation.
First cleaning
After removing the protective packaging from the appliance, carefully clean the entire cabinet, both inside and outside,
using neutral detergents. Carefully dry the cabinet using a soft cloth (do not use metallic sponges or abrasive products).
Levelling - Positioning
The refrigerated cabinet must be positioned in the desired location and levelled-in both transversal and longitudinal
sense-adjusting the levelling feet until it rests on a stable horizontal position (the cabinet should not move when fully
loaded).

Check levelling using a high precision level to be positioned on a flat surface of the cabinet (e.g. tank bottom, shelves,
etc.).
An incorrect levelling may compromise the troublefree operation of the refrigerated cabinet (e.g. defective water
draining, difficult channelling, etc.).

Make sure that the cabinets are not too close to the wall and keep a free space of approx. 50 mm so as to allow good
air circulation all around them and avoid condensation.

ELECTRIC SYSTEM (FIG. 3)
It is essential that the electric connections are carried out in compliance with the safety rules in force.
First of all, check that power supply corresponds to the value indicated on the nameplate.
For correctly operating the cabinet, the maximum variation in voltage allowed is +/ - 6% Vn (voltage must be checked
with the refrigerating system turned on).
The power supply line must have cables of suitable cross section (minimum cross section of electric cables 2.5 mm2)
In particular, electric systems must be equipped with adequate protections (earthing system, differential, fuses or
magnetothermal switches) of proportional size.
It is recommended, according to the size of cabinets, to us gI type fuses or C or V type magnetothermal switches of
adequate size.

Also check that the earthing socket is efficient; the earthing connection is essential to prevent the electric
shock hazard.

In order not to have to disconnect power supply, with extra costs and stand-by times, make sure that the line and the
electric protections are in good conditions and efficient.
In the case of temporary black-outs, make sure that all of the electric appliances in the shop can simultaneously start-up
again without triggering the electric and overload protections. If necessary, modify the power supply system to
differentiate the start-up timing of the different appliances.

ELECTRIC PANEL (FIG. 3)

The onboard Electric Panel is located in the left upper part of the ceiling. The electric panel includes the following control
devices:

- RUN THERMOSTAT
PRODIGY TR 711 N (CODE 04.66.18.00)
Graduated temperature scale in CELSIUS degrees (°C).
The setting and adjusting of the operating temperature is carried out on this thermostat.
The thermostat bulb is fixed to the back panel in the refrigerated air intake area.

All of the electric users of the cabinet (lighting, fans, hot cables, armoured elements, etc.) are connected to the terminal
board located on the onboard electric panel.
For the electric connection to a remote Electric Panel (if provided), contact a qualified electrician.
ALVA
English
START-UP (FIG. 3)
Follow the instructions below:
- Check the electric connections of the onboard electric panel to the remote electric panel (if provided).
- Check that the main switch I.G. on the remote electric panel (if provided) is set to ON.
- Adjust the run thermostat at the corresponding operating temperature:

- S.L. Class M2 = -1 oC / +7 oC
- F.V. Class H = +1 oC / +10 oC

The run thermostat is normally preset by ARNEG technicians during testing.

- Visually check on the digital thermometer that the refrigerated cabinet quickly reaches the preset temperature.
During the entire refrigerating phase, the green pilot light remains on (Display Panel).
TEMPERATURE DISPLAY (FIG. 3)
Temperature is physically measured by means of a probe combined to the thermometer and fixed onto the cabinet
ceiling, called refrigerated air intake area.

LIGHTING (FIG. 3)
The cabinet internal lighting is realized through fluorescent lamps, positioned horizontally on the inside of the ceiling.
The reactor and the starter are positioned on the lamp base. The light switch is located on the Display panel.
The back panels are equipped with electric sockets for mounting the shelves that include lights (as an option).
NIGHT BLIND COVER (OPTIONAL ACCESSORY)
During the closing time of the retail area (nightly hours or weekends), useless cold dispersion can be prevented and
the correct hygiene of the foodstuff is guaranteed by closing the front area of the cabinet using the night blind cover
supplied on request (optional accessory).
Three different solutions for different needs are provided:
- Manual blind cover
- Motorised blind cover

If the cabinet is equipped with internal lighting, switch off the lights before closing the night blind cover.
ALVA
English
DEFROSTING (FIG. 4)
The refrigerated cabinet is equipped with an automatic electric defrosting cycle through armoured elements inserted
in the evaporator.
During the entire defrosting cycle, the orange pilot light remains on (Display panel).
Its is important to consider that the air recirculating fans work throughout the entire defrosting cycle.
In the electric defrosting cycle (armoured elements), the defrosting start (Compressor OFF, electric elements ON)
is always controlled by a Timer (remote Electric Panel), whereas the defrosting end (electric elements OFF) is
controlled by a defrosting-end thermostat (adjusted to approx. +10°C) located on the onboard Electric Panel; the
thermometer bulb is anchored onto the evaporator.
After the time preset on the Timer has elapsed, the compressor is started-up (Compressor ON).
We recommend that 4 defrosting cycles a day are set of 25 mins each.
The water resulting at the end of the defrosting cycle drains from the cabinet through a special floor-mounted drainpipe.

NOTE If, during the defrosting cycle, the temperature read on the thermometer is high, this is due to the circulation
of hotter air within the cabinet.
ANTI-CONDENSATION HOT CABLES (FIG. 4)
In the intake nozzle on the ceiling, a hot cable operates constantly to heat the refrigerated air intake area and prevent
condensation and dripping.
WATER DRAINING
To drain the defrosting and condensation water, predispose a floor drain with a slight gradient.
We also recommend that a syphon is installed between the cabinet draining duct and the floor connection and that the
floor draining area is sealed.
These two simple rules will prevent bad smells inside the cabinet and possible malfunction of the system due to
humidity.

USEFUL SUGGESTIONS
It is important to consider that all foodstuff must be handled as little as possible and arranged in the cabinet as quickly
as possible, previously pre-cooled to preserving temperature. Several times a day, check that the temperature
indicated on the thermometer corresponds to the correct preserving temperature.
To guarantee the quality of foodstuff, the correct preserving temperature must be guaranteed (the cold chain must not
be interrupted) for the entire period of time during which the items are contained in your refrigerated cabinet.

For the restocking of items in the refrigerated cabinet, a few important rules must be observed:

- The loading limit in the tank and on the shelves must not be exceeded.
- Arrange the items in the displaying space in such a way so as not to obstruct the circulation of refrigerated air;
the refrigerant intake and suction duct must not be obstructed.
During restocking, the item turnover rule must be observed, that means that the existing items must be arranged
in front with respect to the new ones.
- We recommend not to load too many items on the shelves (approx. 160 kg/sqm) or in the tank, so as not to
compromise the final preservation of foodstuff.
Anyway avoid leaving the shelves empty, as this may create harmful turbolence to the regular refrigerant flow
and cause abnormal energy consumption.

Do not make the cabinet operate in conditions of abnormal ice formation; if necessary, manually defrost and, should
the problem persist, contact your technical service.

These conditions are essential to the troublefree operation of the refrigerated cabinet and the correct preserving of the
items contained.
ALVA

CABINET CLEANING
Before any technical intervention on any refrigerated cabinet, power supply must always be disconnected.

The refrigerated cabinet must be washed on the inside and outside part using neutral detergents (do not use abrasive
products or metallic sponges) and then rinsed and carefully dried using a soft clean cloth (suede is recommended)
without leaving any wet spots. For cleaning, use normally available detergents.
Keep the tank bottom clean and always make sure that the refrigerant intake and suction duct is not obstructed.
During cabinet cleaning, make sure that fans, lamps, electric cables and all of the electric devices in general
are not wet.
MAINTENANCE/REGULAR INSPECTIONS
Before carrying out any maintenance operation on the refrigerated cabinet, make sure that the electric power
supply is disconnected.

We recommend that a qualified technician-expressly authorised-is contacted (electrician or refrigerator technician).

The only component that requires regular inspection and cleaning is the condensing group (remote group). Monthly
(or more often if installed in dusty environments), the ventilated condenser must be cleaned using a dry brush or a
vacuum cleaner to clean the front part and blow through the fins so as to remove the dust that obstructs the free
circulation of air.

Before contacting the Assistance Service, in the case of any failure in the cabinet operation, it is essential to check the
following parameters:
- Environmental conditions
Check that environmental conditions (Temperature - Relative Humidity - Draughts - etc.) do not exceed the limits
specified and, if not, restore the correct ones.
- Cabinet loading
Check air circulation within the cabinet for possible obstructions that may be due to the incorrect positioning of
items that may obstruct the intake and suction duct.
- Power supply
First of all, check that the electric system is powered and that the power supply line is not interrupted.

If the problem still persists after having checked the points above, please contact your nearest Dealer of
Assistance Service.

SUGGESTION

Once a year, it is recommended to have your refrigerated cabinet thoroughly checked-up by a qualified
technician.
